@Dayman Karate I've seen that done only on trucks that were basically converted into buggies and running 42"+ tires with the axle pushed up far beyond the engine. Up travel is a big issue hence why the axle is placed so far forward. If that's what you're going for though, then I say more power to you.

Good points haha. Not sure I'd feel motivated to buy a newer Tacoma either for the reasons you listed. But yea, A/C and windows are nice to have for sure in a hard core build. Definitely happy to have those in the Southwest.

    Very good points, agree.

I’m not sure if it’s the way I want to go quite yet, but I think it’s doable and might not have to go much further forward than I was already planning. The bottom of the engine/radiator will still limit uptravel, but the lack of a pan hard plus full hydro should squeeze a bit more out of it. Could possibly raise the engine an inch, too.

On the other hand, up travel is overrated :D. You'll be fine!

That's the exact spot to cut it for the frame chop.

Some lady went thru a red. My light was green for days. She said it was to bright and couldn't see. Got plowed by a 2nd gen and 180 into me. I couldn't avoid her since there was a huge light pole on the other side. My son was riding shotgun, that could have been really bad. So I took her QP out on my side. Destroyed my side. Both her QP's were demolished by the Toyota's

You just talked me out of SASn my 2nd gen. I've been on the fence for a bit and now I'm in the camp of the compromise not being worth it. Besides, I have two 90s T4Rs I can focus on putting 40s on and keep my DD slightly modified.

    Good post man

How are folks setting up the brakes on 05+ SD60’s? I have an 2009 TRD offroad, so I have all the fancy brake booster stuff. Not sure if I can just use what I have and adapt to the calipers or if I need a whole new set up. Probably need to do the abs kill switch. Also it sure about the hub sensors from the original stuff. I don’t care about the Speedo, but is anything else going to not play nicely?

1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
If you have the electric style brake boost(hydro boost) then I believe you will be fine. Just get adapters to go to AN fittings for your front and rear lines. As for the abs you will probably go into limp mode or it won’t shift correctly without a speed input

2nd gens are dumb to mod anyway, fat turds that you need tons for because they are heavy and wide, also underpowered and then you need 40s because of the tons and you are too scared to shave an axle. As an added bonus it's the size of an 80s full size truck without a V8 or a beefy trans.

It’s never shifted how I thought was correct so I may not notice anything :rofl:I believe the brake booster is there since the 09 OR have downhill assist and atrac that relies on automatic braking
