I use a lexinmoto wireless charger on a Ram Xgrip and it works great. I never understood why you would want to put your phone down in that cubby. How are you supposed to use it for music or GPS down there?IMG_0861.HEIC.jpg

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
If you plug in to USB and run Android Auto, then your Spotify, Google Maps and other apps will show up on your screen.

You could plug your phone into the USB port inside the console, shut the lid, and still run your apps.

Anyone before 2020 wouldn't have Apple/Android car play. And if your phone is plugged in then you wouldn't need the Qi charger which was the context behind the "How are you supposed to use it for music or GPS down there?"

I didn't know Toyota only added Apple/Android Play in 2020. My bad.

But my point was to forget the useless Qi charger and just plug it in to the USB port. But if you don't have Apple/Android play, then yeah, that's not a good option.

Qi works fine for my S8 and Note 9 streaming and charging. It will get toasty and beep at me after a couple of hours, but I simply hold my phone up in front of the vent and cool it back down. I like it, but I don't live and die with it.

Has anyone tried mounting a ham radio in place of the cubby? I have my detachable face vhf/uhf face mounted to my tpam, and I want to get an hf radio too. I was thinking this would be a good place to mount it.

I pick up a 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road Wednesday afternoon. The first and only mod (for a while) I plan to install is a ID-5100 in the cubby w/ the body under the driver seat for now. I’ll post photos when complete.

I have just mounted a Motorola MA1 adaptor in my Taco. This allows for blue tooth (wireless) Android Auto. I now use the charging tray to keep the phone topped up. If I find it getting warm I just turn off the charging tray with the button. I will find out this week how that works on a long trip (New Hampshire to Jacksonville). Seems to work fine so far commuting. If it warms up too much or does not keep up a charge in use then I will switch to the center console outlet and keep the phone there to charge while being able to use Android Auto from the wireless dongle. I hate the wire running over the cab and do not have to worry about mounting the phone.

@SagWagon what did you wind up doing in that spot? I am trying to mount a Yaesu head unit in that space. Im thinking of taking apart the center console disconnecting the Qi charger and removing that button too.

this is exactly what I did however, I just installed a blank where the switch was. Will most likely use it for lighting at a later date

I never used the wireless charger pad and it bubbled up crazy! There’s a huge air bubble and I want to take the whole assembly off

I really don't give a shit about the QI charger. Why would anyone go through all that BS. I just make sure my phone is charged when i get in the truck. If not, I use the USB. Useless POS.

Is there a part number on the bin anywhere, not looking to order a whole console piece.
