it was all hung up in a snag. could have been 6' deep water in the spring and easily overlooked. lots of boats on the river in high water too. could have just fallen overboard before anyone could grab it. i just started pulling on the line that i saw - pet peeve of my to see fishing line discarded anywhere - and next thing you know i'm pulling up the rod attached to the line! its in good shape now that i cleaned it up. couple eyes were a little bent but they're back in place now. Ugly Stik is marketed to be virtually unbreakable....wonder if they'd want this back as a testimonial?!?

been doing a fair bit of rock hunting lately. after all of the floods our here this spring the rivers have a lot of new gravel beds and existing beds have been churned over so there's tons of cool stuff to be found.waters finally down enough that i can walk out to the gravel bars, no need to wade out.
lots of agates and jasper. some petrified wood. and i think maybe some agatized wood - its petrified but sort of see through. i'll get some pics up in the next few days.
tonight might have been my best finds yet although by technicality...went out to a fishing access close to home. only had about an hour of daylight so i headed straight to the gravel island in the middle of the river and started looking. filled my gallon canvas bucket with probably 40 pounds of rocks and had another football sized chunk i was carrying. arms were giving out and light was nearly gone. i headed back to the truck and was putting my treasures in the passenger side. noticed some broken glass on the edge of the lot so i went over to check it out just in case it was something that could be a danger to either wildlife or someone's dog. turned out to be safety glass. and a bunch of other stuff. i think someone dumped out the landscaping from a terrarium or something. BUT there was also a whole rock collection there! some tumbled/polished and some raw. lots of cool agates, some crystals, some petrified wood and a bunch of others that i don't recognize. i think one chunk might even have either some rubies or garnets in it.
but they're so freaking cool! who would throw out perfectly good rocks?!?!?

definitely need her to see me at work too - $2million in granite and marble slabs destined to be countertops and fireplaces that she can drool over.

There's quite a few abandoned boats washed up on the Delaware, especially since 2020. I've spent most of my life boating on the river and there's definitely more of them nowadays. Recovery efforts can be very expensive, and if the owner doesn't have the funds, no one is around to pay.
