The starting price you cited is considering an SR5 access cab, 4 cylinder and 2WD lol.

See above, I miraculously found an OR today and brought it home with me.

287053704_10225385435796077_4628821788592327555_n (1).jpg I've never regretted getting the Sport in 2018. I can tow this boat out of any body of water across rock or sand or steep ramps and I've driven to the Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean. I do a little recreational off-roading in Ontario and I think I'd only need the locking differential if I was rock crawling in Utah. Good idea to go 265/70/17 with the KO2s. These Kumho tyres are that same size and the truck is noticably taller.

This is an enlightening thread...even with all the comparison dialogue & humorous replies.

    Thanks!

Don't forget the body colored flares. That alone would cost you $1,000 at a body shop to color match. And some of the OR guys are paying $1k for scooped hoods.

I have a Sport 4x4. To me, it was about the looks. I like the color matched bumpers and fenders. I am not a fan of any chrome or black plastic trim on a truck. I just think the Sport looks like a higher end model. And I do love the looks of the scoop (plus it adds at least 20hp and 2mpg).

Just personal preference, but I don't like the black fenders and front bumper on the OE.

i know i shouldnt regret getting the sport over the OR because i dont do ANY off road driving at all. but, i dont really like the stiff ride of the sport. i wanted a softer, "floatier" ride. I do plan on fixing that soon with a different suspension and a 2/1 lift though. once i get the softer ride along with the hood scoop, im hoping ill be happy with the outcome...

Had my new TRD sport for a week now, no regrets so far. rear locker was something I really wanted, but after looking at things from a more realistic perspective, I concluded the Sport will do what I need it to do and more. I bought the manual transmission one and feel like a man again lol. I figure I can always add a locker in the future if my requirements merit the upgrade. Good luck with your decision and I hope you find what you want in stock.

Hah. There is no difference between 5’ or 6’ foot beds unless you are planning to sleep in the box. If we talking 6’ vs 10’ then sure.

I can fit everything in 5 foot box you can fit in the 6 foot box.

Yikes! I would never load my Tacoma up with so much stuff, that's why we keep our old 1995 Ford 4.9 Liter I6 F-150 with its 8' bed around. :)

    Nice truck!

Buddy in high school had 1990 Ferd Inline 4.9, 8ft bed and 4 spd. We were doing brake stands in second, that thing was an absolute beast.

It is completely retarded - which is why I got a used 2nd gen - took me 10 months to find a suitable, non/rusted, one but I was pretty dead set on the AC/MT/OR config due to prior experience with a [work] truck that was not quite up to the job it was purchased for..
