    Afternoon all:
    We are losing it!!!
A gift came running up to us today about 150yds. from the truck. We were walking in to hunt, and I spotted a deer coming towards us running through the woods, my buddy was in front and I said yo, yo, yo, to get his attention, I wanted him to get a shot at it. He sees it and it stops about 30 yds. away broadside and wide open, he has the bow up looking at it through the scope, the deer is standing there and then takes off o_O! He thought I said buck, buck, buck, and he was looking for horns to be sure it was legal , we both have doe licenses. I didn't even take my bow off my shoulder figuring he would shoot, he didn't, guess it was just a brain fart, but we aren't going to get many opportunities like that. It seems like it is going to be one of those years!!!!! :(

    :pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/PHILLIES FANS!!!

I'm taking it easy today, just finished going through the whole colonoscopy dance. They keep saying "the prep isn't as bad as it used to be" to which I say baloney. They still want you to drink an insane amount of liquid over a period of time short enough that it makes me feel like my stomach is going to explode out of me like in that Alien movie. I'm so glad it's over. Also apparently they change the recommendations, if you have a family history they want to see you every three years -- it used to be five. Yay. All that said, I'll be back in 3 years. Gotta get it done.

We got back from Maryland late Monday afternoon, after finally laying my stepson's ashes to rest in their family cemetery plot. It's been a long road to get to this point. I hope it brings some closure for my wife and her family.

    Go Phils!

@wdb, while the actual event may be much easier than it used to be, the prep is far worse these days. I had it done last December and they used what I'll call a "binary anesthesia"; basically one minute you're conscious, they keep you under for the duration, and then flip a switch (figuratively), and bingo, you're conscious as if nothing ever happened.

The prep is the thing. One time I prepped by their instructions, and the colonoscopy wasn't completed because the prep wasn't as thorough as it should have been. Had it to do all over again. Ever since, I have doubled up on preps to be certain it's adequate. I don't blame the doctors, I wouldn't want to have their job either. This last time, I got good news/bad news? They said it would be my last colonoscopy due to my age. WTF?

    More fun times...
A couple years ago I went thru the tortuous colonoscopy prep and the day I showed up for the procedure the doc had some type of emergency.
I got the pleasure of doing it all over again a few days later. Not sure I'll go thru that again.

    Yeah... WTF...

Are we less valuable at some age so we aren't worth early detection?

The last time I did it the stuff they gave me was undrinkable. It tasted like liquid plastic and after the first sip I puked. I called the Doc and they told me to buy some off the shelf stuff at the pharmacy. That liquid was easy to drink. Apparently it did what was needed because they did the procedure and never complained.

A little something every chance we get.
I had it on the greenhouse briefly (don't remember when), and foolishly decided that I needed more light (and heat!). So, the 30% had finished it's life, and I pulled it back out. Wife already complained "why am I shading it in the winter?". I just finished putting up the insulation on the walls, and it's plenty warm and full of light in there!

Here's one for you. I bought a new TV and sound bar from a well known electronics store. Big bucks outlay, for which they offered a discount if I opened a charge account. I did, come to find out, the discount is applied to future purchases with an expiration date.
OK, what the hell, at least it gave me almost two months to make sure there was enough in my checking account to cover the purchase in full. As the due date approached, I was ready, and while confirming online that the full balance payment would be made as planned, I opted for automatic payments in the future should I make more purchases.
Well, that was a mistake, as it scheduled a double dip payment, which was actually yesterday. I tried valiantly to correct the mistake, but of course, the online robot was of no help whatsoever, The doubledip actually took place. Finally, after the fact and too late, I was able to speak to an agent, who, despite my complaint regarding their unfriendly website, explained that it was my fault, and that they would send a check by mail. Her supervisor was called to action, and will take care of it electronically within 3-5 days.
Now, this is not going to be a problem for me, but what about some poor guy who hasn't the resources to cover the mistake until reimbursement can take place? Or worse, doesn't even realize a mistake was made until he gets slapped with duns from other creditors for insufficient funds?
First off, the website is faulty in even permitting a duplicate payment to be scheduled, and then to be told it was my own fault? This charge account is with a major bank, one which I do have another account with. I should drop both accounts for spite, but probably just the new one, as the old one provides a good cash back program. They'll never miss me.

The story I heard was that at our age (80+) the likelihood of surviving the operation (if the results are negative) are not good. IMO that is another way to say what you said.

    Lot of colonoscopy talk...
So....in 2008 I was due for my first. No family history of issues. Despite being completely asymptomatic I had a tumor the size of a marble. Six weeks of 24/7 chemo via chest port and pump, 28 sessions of radiation, colon resection, temporary illeostomy for 12 weeks, another surgery and then 16 more weeks of chemo.

I'm telling you this as reminder not to put off a colonoscopy. If I'd waited 6 months longer for my first I wouldn't writing this. Early detection saves lives, it saved mine.

    evening boys

    Sorry for your loss.

My "C" prep was drink this 8 oz of prep, drink 5 more cups of water in the next 2 hours; 4 hours prior to the "event" drink the other bottle and follow with 4 more cups of water in the next hour. Not an ungodly amount of liquid, but I don't think it's enough to do it's job.... First time with this stuff got told prep wasn't good enough :annoyed: I followed your instructions!!! Then the nurse said "it happens a lot with that prep" :annoyed: Next time was 7 days, yes, 7 days of 4 doses of Miralax, followed by the prep solution, plus having to follow their diet for the week. But it worked and repeat in 7 years

That's one reason for no automatic payments!! They screw up and you pay for it, until you can get them to see it's their error, and then wait to get your $$ back.

I agree, don't put it off!!! My one co-worker lost his wife to this. She didn't get her colonoscopy done when she turned 50 and when she was 56 (I think) she was diagnosed with cancer and she fought it for a few years and then she lost her battle.

All right, didn't get any information on this one but, my friend said it was an early 1940 possibly a Chevy Aussie model (wrong side steeringo_O). No Identification marking and didn't see the owner. And yes that is the actual license plate.

correct. I’m in my eighties and have had them done since in my forties. I’ve had good luck, the findings have always been polips, which are easily removed with no recovery needed. Leave the polips to grow bigger is when you do have problems.

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!! The only colonoscopy story I can add is about the time I was prepped and laying on the table in the room for about 20 minutes. The doctor finally arrived and said "Sorry. I'm running a little behind."

We visited Muir Woods recently and the redwoods are thriving. It seems they are well equipped to keep the moisture from the fog and stay alive. The pine forests are pretty dry though. I opted to not hunt this year as was not drawn for any Out of state game and my regular spot burned last year. We are giving it a chance to regain itself. Frankly I needed a break after remodeling our bathrooms. Now to list the crap I need to sell on eBay……".
