The desk top app is less than impressive. Or maybe I'm just don't know how to use it yet. i can get it to play music, but for example if I want to skip a song, it appears that I have to sign up for $10.00/month. I have Pandora for about $5.00/month and have much more flexibility.

I'll play around with it more and even try the mobile app to see if it works better.

I will turn my lights off and on a few times to try to get those people to realize it. I only have about a 25% success rate. It's also usually newer vehicles that must have automatic headlights too, so it's like they intentionally turn them off instead of leaving them on auto. Their instrument cluster must be so bright! I don't know how they don't realize it.

I followed one guy to work recently. It was rainy, foggy, and still almost pitch black and he was in a new Outback without his lights on. This is all back roads with no street lights, so at times I could barely tell his car was even there through the dark and fog. I turned lights off and on behind him periodically for at least 10 miles. Eventually, he pulled over and I pulled up next to him. He said he just realized I was trying to get his attention and what's up. At no point did he realize he was driving without any lights.

Thing is for me + wife it's 200/year for spotify. We have Amazon prime otherwise. So now that the music is included, we might need to look at jumping that ship.

Full transparency, I've never used either on desktop. I used Pandora on desktop back in 2014/15 timeframe. It looks like Amazon just dumped a TON of blocked paywall features, probably to try to entice more people over. Just like me, if it was spotify vs. amazon TODAY, there'd be no chance for spotify.

I did 1.5 years or so of Salem NH <> Manchester. Now the RI mentality is set in STRONG. Feels European. Why spend 1 hour each way in the car for a job I can find next door. That was actually kind of how I stumbled into this job. It was a goal, but I was looking more toward Mech E/Design, either remote or looking at Fall River area - 20-25 ish minutes away. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth though, this job popped up and I jumped at it, and got it. 1.5 miles, I ride my bike a lot. Pair that with the job I wanted but didn't think I'd be able to get - yee haw!

It's mostly modern DRLs are bright as hell, so people don't realize they got NO lights out back (heh, no pun intended).

And we can thank Canada for that. They made forward DRLs compulsory in 2007 (??? I think, might been a bit later). So makers just made the North American models all the same. US has a switch, Canada doesn't - DRLs are on with ignition.

    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a37490555/canada-automatic-headlight-rules/

They finally caught on that they f'd it up. I can't find anything about the initial law now since all the searches bring up the new one.

24 is a whole different monster, that's for sure. Cupcake hates driving there

Well worth the investment, I only play 6-10 bucks when it really gets up there. Price of the dream I suppose..though even hitting one mil would change my life quite a bit, would pay off my house and my parents' house plus allow me to give her the gift of early retirement.

I have an old Spotify/Hulu bundle that I'm grandfathered into. So, I'm getting Hulu for free as long as I don't try to change my Spotify plan.

I do about 25 miles / 40 minutes each way. I don't mind it most of the time. Where I live means it's unlikely that I'd be able to make similar money without a drive. A pay cut would have been okay until the prices of everything skyrocketed. Plus, the girlfriend's in grad school with an unpaid internship leaving limited time for her to actually make money, so I'm covering the majority of our combined living expenses for now.

That’s just the way I think. Now I have the time to dream a little. Last time it was up this high I scored a cool grand. 4 out of 5 numbers without the pb. Withe the ball it would of been a few million. For the love of Pete!!

That's my limit. I did that Salem <> Manchester was about 30-40 minutes.

    That's pure shenanigans.

I gotta look at what we have. Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, I think we have Hulu.... :annoyed:

Yeah, she's doing mental health counseling so I guess unpaid internships are pretty standard. The kicker is she needs to track hours for her organization to bill clients' health insurance so someone's being paid - just not her.

We have Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, Hulu as part of Spotify, and HBO Max because it's included with my cell phone plan. We probably use Amazon the least, but we have that more for the shipping than streaming.

Does she have to pay for her supervision?

My daughter is a LCSW, so I know the drill. She started out as a volunteer, then did an internship, then got paid, then got licensed and got paid more, and now is a supervisor. During the time she was working as a supervised therapist she had to pay her supervisor something like $70.00/hour.

She works full time for a non profit as a child therapist, but she also has some private patients on the side. For those, she can bill insurance or Medicare. There is a process for that called "Panelling." You have to be signed off before you can bill. Oh, you have to be signed off for your supervised hours as well before you can sit for the LCSW exam. That's a national exam that most states recognize.

After that, you have to apply for your state license.

It's a process that takes about 4-5 years from my daughter's experience.

The best paying jobs are at hospitals, schools, or government agencies like the Veterans Administration.

Not exactly revolutionary stuff here but I did finally get around to dropping the rack on my bed shell.

Unpaid internships are pretty standard but there are some places (like myself), clinics and, facilities that will pay about $20 an hour for a persons internship knowing that it is tough in this day and age to take time off of work to do both school and internship while trying to survive. Even if the intern doesn't get paid, the money usually goes into the business and not directly to the person supervising them. If the supervisor is getting paid for that, that is a little on the greedy side. I take enough for the internship liability insurance, and to pay their share of the support staff, and give the rest to them.

For LCSW's, finding supervision can be really difficult and paying for supervision is very common. If someone is working for me and under me though, supervision should technically be free because that person is bringing money into the business.

You are correct that Hospitals and the VA pay the most......but the workload and burnout rate is extremely high. Schools are pretty good but you get great benefits to offset that. DO NOT WORK FOR THE STATE. Just no.....nope....don't do it. Eventually you cut your chops in a clinic type setting and then you move to private practice. The said thing though is that the reimbursement rates for working in a clinic are about 1/2 as working in private practice but you will not need to be individually credentialed with insurance companies most times because you will be under the clinic license. Private practice pays more but you do your own billing, records, and need to be individually credentialed with insurances not to mention wait anywhere between 4 weeks to 2 months to get paid by their insurance company after you see the patient.

She has to pay for the Internship "course" credits through the university, but not for the supervision fortunately. She also found placement with a non-profit 10 minutes from home when she thought she was going to have to drive an hour. Her supervisor already told her to expect an offer when her internship is done too. Despite no pay, they've treated her very well and she likes it there. She figures she'll stay with them for however long it takes to get more experience and be licensed, then she wants to go private like you said. She's going for LMHC.

The starting salary that her program advisor said to advocate for is pretty sad considering what she needs to go through to get a position. I just have an associates in Computer Information Systems and she won't be even in the same ballpark from the sounds of it. Granted, I've been doing it for 12 years but still - there are typically no formal requirements to hold my job.

The starting salaries are pathetic considering what they do and how long and expensive it is to get licensed.

I'm not familiar with LMHC, unless it's Leonard Morse in Natick.

My daughter specializes in children's therapy, and where she is in TX there is a shortage and even waiting lists.

It's hard work and they deserve more money, more recognition, and fewer jokes due to the nitwits that use Social Worker as a punch line.

What school did your wife go to?

Social workers for the state are not the same from what i know. My neighbor is a supervising Social Worker for DFS, but she's not a LCSW.

My daughter plans to go fully independent, but she has to build up enough clientele to pay the bills first. Health insurance is the killer.

My daughter is good enough at what she does that she was invited to set up a program for the school kids in Uvalde, TX after the shooting.
