I can't remember if I ever posted any pics of the computer desk I built. Other than a DIY plywood cube organizer for my wife, I think its my first real woodworking project I ever dabbled in. Its all pine, 2x4 frame, 2x8 top, channel routed for some LED's, and definitely not perfect. But fancy lights draw attention away from all the imperfections lol. Standby for pics..

I like that finish on the base. How did you do that?

So, I've got wood conditioner on my current project and its been a couple of hours drying. When I look at just the right angle I can see "wet" spots. I've wiped it down twice and they keep popping up. Does anyone know if I can wipe down with a rag and a little bit of mineral spirits? Will that defeat the conditioner?

The whole thing got a pre stain wood conditioner, then just a grey wood stain, very unprofessionally smeared on there lol I'd have to double check the brand, but I think its just a rustoleum/varathane weathered grey or something of that nature. The goal was something farmhouse-ish modern twist, instead of just a white paint base. Funny enough, I actually don't like the look all that much. Its not horrible, but it can look very blueish.

Patience...let it dry. I personally didnt like it(wood conditioner) for the lighter stains but did better for darker.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I stain after it's been on 15 minutes

I like it, lol. I achieved a similar look using the distilled vinegar and 0000 steel wool combination. Made the wood come out looking "weathered".

I typically don't use conditioner, but after a recent project with cherry and dealing with the unevenness of the stain (despite sanding it down 3 times) I am going to take precautions.

Unfortunately I did not have the luxury of staining this evening. Damn kids.

I usually stain when its freshly after a hot steamy rain lol. I've come to terms knowing I don't ever plan to have show quality projects, and just don't quite have the skill, or patience. I'm learning though; I guess we all start somewhere, making stupid mistakes, and learning how to fix them along the way.

Yea same here. Planned on starting a desk organizer for my office but oldest had a rough day and proceeded to make my life hell all afternoon. all I got accomplished was a coaster for my desk lol

getting to work with some cherry off an old bridge from my hometown that my grandfather stored for four or more decades. He was a master woodworker and had a shop that any craftsman would drool over. Guess I got a small sliver of his talent.

Where do you guys know of that I can get a plastic or metal stencil made? Need something to run the router against. Specifically I’m trying to do an epoxy buffalo bills logo (just the white outline) on a table for a friend. Would like a stencil to prevent mistakes and make it easier.

can’t find anyone local to do it on CNC or a 3D printer.

I was ignorant of Etsy as well, until I wanted a cat weathervane as a gift for my other half to put on a greenhouse I'm building. It was easy and worked out well. I'll definitely buy more from Etsy.

I'd call this woodwork, but not crafty kinda woodwork. I was so close to finishing the roof framing, but forecast called for rain and I ran out of time. I spent 30 min putting away tools and tarping the roof. I'm going to prime the wood before the roof goes on so I want to keep it dry. Then.... no rain all day, so I lost most of a day. It's supposed to start tonight and be on/off for the next 4 days.
