200+ pages and I'm still not sold on the whole EV thing. Oh well. It seems as if it would be more of inconvenience for me, personally. I don't have any issues with or want anything more from anything that I drive regularly anyway. I'm content. :)

Doesn't fit everyone's life situation. It does mine and I'm just waiting a little longer. I'm in no rush.

Ideally long enough for the uninformed factless phobics (are they playing at Coachella 2023?) to move on to shit post and [word redacted, something that rhymes with knoll that our mods think is ban-worthy] a different thread.

Like I said - you get most of the benefits of a BEV in a PHEV, yota makes a perfectly nice PHEV, and it'll come in a Taco form factor soon enough. And PHEVs have every single advantage that pure ICE vehicles have.

That said, the Taco isn't gonna be replaced here .. it gets a couple thousand a year if I go wheel it or otherwise run it for funsies.

Wow aren’t you an effing hero. There’s no way in hell you can fit everything and be comfortable in that tiny fake SUV. If you don’t like the American attitude then move to another country. The rest of don’t care about your California save the world attitude.
Also how much range are you going to lose by putting a ski rack on the roof, driving in the cold and parking in an icy lot all day.

Ah yes, yet another “move the goal post” response. Everything can get packed on & in quite a few EV offerings for your stated purpose of a weekend snowboarding. Just because you don’t like a vehicle doesn’t mean it can’t fill a need. Tiny is subjective, as the Ioniq5 is larger than my last couple daily drivers. As far as being fake, well the couple I’ve seen with my own eyes seemed quite real. I’m perplexed about the axe you have to grind against any vehicle other than what you currently own. There’s a giant market of drivers that consider your little 6 cylinder SUV a fake SUV. No V8 or 3rd row, wow what a useless tiny fake SUV. The lack of valid arguments is getting laughable.

Now excuse me while I go don my cape.

    Your an odd character.
Thanks for telling me how much cargo room I need for “my” trips though. I’ll take that into consideration never.
The “fake” and Ionic 5 is in regards to it being considered SUV of the year. It’s a hatchback not an SUV.

*you’re. Funny thing about vehicle categories is they’re classified by the manufacturers, not by you. Remind me again how the back of a T4R opens? It’s pretty hatch-looking, and it’s at the back. Interesting isn’t it? All the Excursion & Suburban owners out there are talking about how the T4R is a fake SUV, but it works for you doesn’t it? So does that make them any different than you trying to invalidate something else that you don’t like? I don’t expect that you understand the comparison, but at least the rest of the thread that has you on ignore can get a laugh out of your continued digging into the hole you’ve made.

It’s OK though, I’ve had enough fun here with the ill informed and generally closed minded. It’s been fun seeing the logic (?) used by some parties. Ignoring questions that can be easily disproven, moving goal posts, denying objective statistics.
It’s going to get awful lonely on that hill you’re choosing to die on. Just remember: you have a choice of which threads to participate in. When most of the participating members openly admit to putting you on the ignore list, perhaps it’s time to mosey onto a topic better aligned with your opinions.

Considering that the F150 is mostly sold in North America only, this is a little misleading. On the other hand the fact that an American-branded (and in many cases American manufactured) passenger car is the top selling vehicle in many countries, is pretty amazing. I don’t think that’s happened since the Model A or even the Model T Ford. And the fact that millions of people worldwide can afford this “expensive” car and deal with “range anxiety” says quite a bit.

Agreed. The density of distribution is certainly different. The F150 is currently the most mass produced vehicle in the US. But consider this, Tesla just finished Giga Texas. It is the largest building by volume ever built on Earth. And what is the largest manufacturing facility ever created, in the largest building ever constructed on the planet going to build? Model Ys (in addition to other models eventually). As if that wasn't enough, the manufacturing facility is set to be entirely solar powered, because they can. An American made EV is rapidly on track to become the most successful and dominant car in the world, no other company even remotely matches the growth curve. Man, if you are not rooting for the home team here regardless of your ideologies, I don't know what to say. Tesla is crushing it world-wide with a USA product, in a way the big 3 never did.

I get being a prepper but if something happens where there is no gas for anyone for a extended time being able to charge an EV is going to be the least of your worries. I used to think that way as well with solar everything.

Indeed. I'm not way off in the deep end on that, i just like the idea of self-reliance. Not even for massive economy events (god help us), but in FL you can be decimated by hurricanes on a weeks notice. I've been affected by a number of storms in recent years (relatively) where I was out of power for longer periods, gas was scarce; no power at stations or stores, etc. After stuff like that you really start to think about how you can harden yourself against future disruptions.

I’m interested in EVs and enjoy discussing them even though I don’t own one yet.
Others here seem to be just interested in fighting.
