No, but you might wish you had here shortly. We have already had a 4 liter guy state that the turbo 4 wouldn't be much better than his garden tractor motor.
Apparently peak torque 1500 RPM lower and 50 more HP is no biggie*. This coming from the crowd who is extremely proud of 600 RPM...

    It makes no sense.

    *allegedly

A modern turbo 4 will make every motor in any taco ever look like trash in comparison.

No money, all went to truck...
I feel like there's no way Toyota puts in a 400+hp twin turbo engine in a tacoma. No way. Frick, you know how much chaos would ensue? Every tacoma owner having that much HP? End of the world. Look at all the stupid Dodge Charger/challenger/hellcat viral vids. Cheap HP is dangerous for society.

I agree which is why I picked up a manual TRD pro this year; I’d be shocked if they continue with the manual transmission.

Manual 4th gen is betting on the river. A 6 speed manual isn't going lineup with whatever 8-9 speed auto they plan on rolling out, and I'll likely be a noticeable difference in MPGs, which they won't want dragging down their company average.

They did just put a manual in the Supra so there is some, faint, glimmer of hope that a manual will be still available.

It has to do with emissions, the 2.4 produces about 50% less emissions compared to the v6.

Still the Corolla Hatch and 86 as well. There's a glimmer, just don't have a lot of faith. A lot of 2nd gen'ers thought that about the third too, so there's that.

The 86 is a Subaru and the Supra is a BMW so I wouldn’t use either of those as glimmers of hope for a manual in the new 4 cylinder turbo Tacoma.

So here is the interesting bit, only the Supra added the manual. The Z4 does not have stick.

    Perhaps, a slim glimmer.

Don't worry, I think you are right.

That being said, if Toyota does drop twin turbos in a Taco it will be detuned to 279 HP and 266 lb. ft to keep the streak alive. Oh, and get 1 MPG better.

I'm sure turbos will be involved. But it'll likely be the Ford route of a smaller I4 or V4 engine.

They should have something as powerful as the Ford 2.7l trying turbo. Taco owners would never complain about their trucks being under powered.

Even the Ranger only runs the 2.3L. Then again, most people who complain it is underpowered are people who are used to or looking for the power of a full size truck and that's just not going to happen.

Ummm, Ford doesn't make a V4 engine, did you mean to type V6?

Ford only makes an I4 engine for the Ranger, correct. The V4 was merely a suggestion that still focused on 4 cylinders.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but Ford doesn't make a V4 anywhere in the world as far as I know; that said, they make a LOT of V6 engines.
