I use the remote start right as I am leaving the house, then open the driver's door, the engine shuts off, and before I can even have my lil tantrum or restart the engine, I grab my phone and create the 61,389th post on TW asking "how can I reprogram the remote start to stop shutting off when doors are opened".
So at this point the truck has run for about 15-20 seconds, but I am nice and warm cause I am mad at the remote start system and Toyota.

Absolutely unnecessary, you are wasting a lot of gas and diluting your oil with gas. 1-2 min tops if it’s super cold outside, otherwise 30-40 secs and you are good to go.

Just drive it gently till it gets to normal
    Operating temps.

Don't drive until the idle drops down. That doesn't take more than a minute on Tacomas and it's a noticeable drop. Drive it gently until the gauge is in the middle. Send it.

Edit: The gauge is coolant temperature, not oil temperature.

    Welcome to TW!

Modern fuel injected engines have no choke. They do not need to "warm up". Start and pull away easy. Let the temperature gauge come up to normal operating temp. Then let it rip.

I always run synthetic engine oil for cold start reasons.
For temps down to around 40deg F, I idle engine for 30 seconds and go. I start to extend warm up in winter, especially down in the teens F

When I'm late for work I've got it in reverse while the engine is still cranking

But seriously, just wait about 10 seconds to let the oil get moving and then you're fine.

From a standpoint of tailpipe emissions and fuel mileage, the EFI system wants the engine to get to operating temp as soon as possible. Fuel vaporizes/mixes better going into the cylinder, converters are fired up and working strong, etc

I usually let my truck "warm up" for 20-30 seconds in the garage then depending on how cold it is outside Ill idle down my alley/street and be pretty gentle with it until it gets closer to operating temp. So do I warm it up? no, but I also dont start it in 10 degree weather then stand on the gas pedal

Because she started driving in the days of carburetors. All you're doing is wasting your time and gas.

I grew up in Nome Alaska. My dad had an old GMC 6.2 liter disease. We had to plug it in at night or the engine block would be frozen solid in the AM. Not moving that vehicle till spring...

All you really need in most continental US winter conditions is to start it up, wait for the idle to drop and then drive away. It won’t hurt anything but your wallet to let it warm up longer though.

A 6-pack is three 2 barrel carbs, not a 6 barrel carb. Sorry, but you triggered me.

If it's cold I'll give it a minute or so (only about 3-4 months out of the year)

I give it a couple minutes when it's cold. I know it's not exactly necessary but there's no harm to it either. I just make sure to drive it easy until up to temp.
