Just found this thread… Haven’t been following the drama and very unlikely will read the previous 200+ pages lol

Today I got the chance to drive an R1T for a couple hours. Must say power delivery is impressive, not that impressed about the suspension even though the different modes are very cool

I work on the renewables / micro-grids market and would love to get one at some point but as of now it is out of my budget

I was just watching this video comparing the R1S to the R1T. He mentioned that no Teslas come with a spare tire. Is that true? That’s crazy.

What did you not like about the suspension?

Yes, and you don’t hear about Teslas stranded on the side of the road with flats.

I also think it is not as good as it could as people talked it up to be. I chalk that up to the compromises in design that had to be made in order to suit everyone who wanted a sporty road truck, those who wanted a hauling/towing truck and those who wanted an off-road truck.

Compared to my ‘21 Tacoma it is smoother on good pavement and slightly better in large cracks and potholes. It has way better handling manners as far as stability in corners and after bumps is concerned. Off-road it is also better at absorbing the bumps and rolls without the body roll Tacomas get.

Compared to my TRX it is way less floaty on road but the TRX long travel suspension did what it was designed for and absorbed all the imperfections and potholes like nothing was there. The obvious downside being excessive body roll associated with big tires, tall soft suspension and a heavy truck. Off-road there is no comparison, the TRX suspension was so much better.

My ‘19 Audi Q8 is my only other recent experience with air suspension and it is similar to the R1T. Smooth and near perfect in good roads, not able to provide a lot of cushion for bumps but with the benefit of very little oscillating rebound after a bump. The R1T air suspension is smoother and softer especially when off pavement. Interesting side note - the Q8 actually had more ground clearance than a Tacoma with the suspension in the highest setting.

Who would I hear it from? I’m sure it happens. No one is immune from flat tires.

Since the spray is going to fix a slow leak that you’d be aware of because of the tire pressure monitoring system you can pull over where it is optimal. Anything else, the spray can’t fix and you’ll be stopping where your tire failed.

I don’t think the media reports on flat tires. :)
Those fix a flat kits are pretty useless for anything larger than a nail hole. Do people that want to be prepared buy a spare tire and just put it in the trunk?
