    Remains to be seen. Right now I just have the standard carbine buffer that came with the lower. I have been trying to do some research about it, but I haven't really found anything conclusive. Most of the people that have played with them were doing so with a factory built rifle with a non-adjustable gas block. The only thing I have so far is a general but not quantified idea that a heavier buffer will reduce felt recoil, but only to a barely noticeable extent. I've found nothing about the effects of changing the buffer spring rate. Only thing I did find is that had I not selected a barrel with the adjustable gas block option (which has a larger gas port size), it should run reliably with a standard carbine buffer.

    My plan at this point is to get a heavy buffer, perhaps an H4, and try it out to see if makes any difference from the standard buffer. As for the spring rate, I'm going to have to talk to someone knowledgeable about it. Maybe my barrel manufacturer.

    Copy that. Define frequently? :D

    I'd be pissed too, JP should have stepped up to the plate and replaced those defective ones. No excuses for crappy products especially when the sales are good.

    BTW, I used a very thin application of MMC78 nickel based anti-seize when installing the gas blocks. I'll see if it did any good when I remove the blocks to clean.

    I dropped the ball when I went to see Todd a couple weekends ago to have my muzzle brake pinned and welded. I forgot the barrel shims so it was a wasted trip but for getting to drool on Todd's current project. Now I'm going to have to try to get over there on a weekday afternoon via hell's highway. I might see about taking 301 to 98 in Zephyrhills into Lakeland. Might (or might not) take longer, but the chance of getting killed drops considerably, lol. Anyway, that's why I'm not posting pics of the mighty .458 completed.

    Pretty sure it's the deadliest stretch of road in Florida. I'd have to be headed east during rush hour. If I don't get killed in a TA, then I'd be sitting in a parking lot, lol.

    How about neither :p, driving through the "woods" gets me there quicker 75% of the time..

    We are relocating thanks to "Ian" and will be "Moving" up in your neck of the "Woods" come Mid-December ; Haines City.. :cool:

    I will have to make time to stop by and see the SHOP after the New Year...:hattip:
