Looks like it has pins to allow either removal of the center bar or it to pivot up from one side.

Yeah... I feel ya! Would love to get another "2nd" bike! Meanwhile, I'll be waiting to hear from the shop re: what's wrong with the truck and I have a feeling I'll want to be sitting down when they call...

Did you see the photochromatic face shield for those? Great idea but a $200+ face shield is just too rich for my blood.

One bike? I currently have 3 and I'm still always looking. A couple of weeks ago I came across an old Lambretta scooter that I went back to look at the next day! Would have made a neat little resto project but once I saw it up close and was able to really look at it, it was way too far gone for me. I'd like some form of dual sport myself. Friend of mine just picked up a new KLR650 and it sure looks sweet to me.

Yes and I've heard they work well, but agreed very expensive. Haven't decided yet but will probably get a smoked face shield

Good to hear, I liked my RF-1200 and based on reviews the new model has some nice improvements

I was used to having two bikes now the garage feels empty. I'm always browsing the classifieds but won't have extra cash for a while... I can be patient though.

A project would be fun especially when you have something else to ride. Dual sport is a good choice and the KLR is priced fairly cheap - you should go for it :D
