Hardtail, SS, short/mid travel bike, DH bike. All others are pointless

I recongize you didn’t ask me and that’s more than 3. But this is TW, no one stays in their lane and no one complies with moderation.

I have a full suspension mountain bike, a gravel bike, and a fat bike. A road bike would complete the stable, but my gravel bike is decent enough on pavement (and riding for long times on pavement gets me a bit anxious). The roads where I live are narrow and winding through the woods, people think they are Jeff Gordon on the final lap of the Daytona 500. If I lived in the midwest where roads are flat and straight for miles, visibility wouldn't be as much of an issue.

A single speed hard tail has been on my mind lately - have a trail network nearby of relatively fast flowing XC trails that lend themselves to single gearing. I'd probably instantly regret it on the first climb, but having to focus more on maintaining flow and momentum would be ideal.

haha, solid list, no gravel or road bike to put in the miles! Guess that is the roadie in me..........

Those four do seem like the perfect combo for any ride. What grave bike do you have? I got a Canyon that is more on road bike side rather than mountain bike like. I rode my coworkers Surly Ghost Grappler and it's like a mountain bike with drops and that's a little too much for me. I was scared shitless the first few times riding on the road while cars blast three feet from at 55mph but I guess you get used to it

I have Poseidon Redwood - more in line with a drop bar rigid mountain bike. Weighs a ton, but I consider it strength training during an endurance ride!

I currently have a full squish trail bike, gravel-ish bike and a fat bike. I have no desire for a road bike, I don't particularly like riding on the road and don't do it enough to justify having a dedicated road bike. My gravel bike is fairly skinny tired and does pretty well on pavement. I sort of want a hard tail mountain bike with 130-140 front travel for some of the local trails, I think that would be a lot of fun!
Single speed... really? If you make that happen, please let me come with you on the maiden voyage so I can heckle, I mean provide productive encouragement.

I think I would change mine up slightly with a long travel enduro bike (170MMish) instead of a DH bike since I would almost never get use out of a DH bike haha. I'd also need a gravel bike in my mix.

I currently have a hardtail plus bike, an old CX bike I'm deciding what to do with, a gravel bike, and a short travel bike...plus an SS at my parents house but I don't really count that since I don't have immediate access to it haha.

Definitely interested in one - but don't think I would ever pay money for that kind of pain. However, when I have tree trunk cannon legs from using one, I will be laughing at all those eagle calls!

Oh yeah that thing is beefy, but bet it can go anywhere!

Carbon hardtails look so nice..... and single speed seems to be big hipster thing these days prompting the "flow" from the fixed hub. If you get one have to go all the way and get no brakes as well, just skid.....

All bikes are great…except for road bikes
    Kidding… but kinda not kidding

I could go for a gravel rig eventually. Maybe
You know I originally thought the same about the long travel enduro vs DH rig hypothetical scenario. But for me the majority of places locally that I’d ride a 170 big enduro rig, a solid mid travel bike would actually suffice. Anytime I’d actually be in a place that truly warranted the big 170 (park/shuttle zones), it begs the question why not go full on DH bike anyway…

We’re all just talking dream stable though. So why not all the bikes.

Well... if we're talking dream stable, there'd be more than 3 bikes! I'd get the purpose-built bike for all the riding conditions I'd encounter. Due to budget constraints, the 3 I currently have overlap quite a bit to cover all conditions, but they're often going to be ridden in conditions where they work, but may not necessarily be ideal.

yes fair point haha. my logic was similar, places that don't need a big bike but having one would be more fun haha. Even some of the bike parks around me don't need a full DH bike, at least the last time I rode them. Now if we are talking unlimited dream quiver it would probably be one of each category haha.

i have the oem cover and can fit 2, maybe 3 bikes with it folded up.

theres 2 bikes in the bed in the last pic, pointed different ways. a large patrol and a large stache? idk what the dh bike is its a friends. if you point them the same way and no hitch rack, you could probably fit 3.

you could probably find an oem cover cheap. im gonna be selling mine next spring sometime once i get a cap

I watched this yesterday while spinning on the trainer. I enjoyed it the film! I’ve been watching a number of films/documentaries like this lately and have truly enjoyed these. Canyon Bikes are on a few others that I’ve watched and have enjoyed as well - The Impossible Route movies, I think there are 4.

But, in regards to riding TWE uphill…..oh my goodness! I’d struggle going down that stuff and to see him accomplish that! Thanks for mentioning this! Really enjoyed it!
