Sometimes I'll just start mine and run it for a few minutes to an hour. Just to help keep oil up top. And to keep the battery charge up. And to kill penguins and polar bears

I might start warming mine up even longer to compensate for those of you not warming up properly :boink:

I use one of those windshield covers that also has flaps for the side mirrors...originally bought it for my 2010 Mazda CX-9 but now use it for my Sport.

Remote start will be utilized but I won't let it sit idle for more than 2 minutes.

Also, it takes about 30 seconds for the Electronic Display to set...once finalized, that's when I put it in gear and gently let off the brake to navigate my driveway.

Now you're talking; clearly you think you know more than the engineers who designed and built your vehicle, so why stick around some place where folks will challenge your assumptions?

These kinda threads are so fuckin stupid. It always ultimately leads to two idiots insulting the other because they're both wrong but provide no evidence and just comment the other is wrong and a moron for it.

I'll continue to not warm up my 2nd gen, change oil at 9k miles, change spark plugs at double the recommended interval and continue watching the odometer rack up the miles, probably the same as those w/ warm up their truck for 5 minutes and change oil and plugs at 2k miles.

I keep seeing posts saying that now that engines have fuel injection and not carburetors a warmup is no longer necessary. I started driving long before EFI was around and owned many carbed vehicles and guess what, I didn't warm them up either.

Don't care if it wastes gas. If its cold I leave my heated seats and defroster on when I get out. I remote start it and let it run for a solid few minutes so I get into a warmish car. If I don't remote start I wait maybe 20 seconds before I drive off but take it easy until its warm.

My last two snowmobiles have had lights on them to tell you when the engine is warm enough that you can start ridding. But those are also turning 3,000+ rpms just to move. I wait for those lights to go out before I move.

I don't care what manual says. It's all about me. If it's cold enough that I'm freezing my ass, I warm it up for my own comfort. I 'spect the engine will get over it. 55 years of driving and no major failures yet.................

I do not like to push my truck on cold NH winter mornings, but those 2am February fire/medical calls that requires a very quicks response, I certainly have. Truck is fine and still on the OEM batter from Dec 2016

    few things here and there.
Just my personal approach, but I let it warm up 1-3 min. Just until the RPM’s drop after a cold start, if that makes sense.

Hence why I let it sit for just a couple minutes. Not remote start it 3 times each morning like my neighbors lol.

I usually let mine run for a just little bit before I throw it in reverse and back out of my garage. Not because it is cold, but just because I like to get the engine oil and tranny fluid circulating before driving away. This may not be necessary, but this is what I do.

Sometimes when my wife fires her Highlander up and throws it in gear right away, I give her the "whoa, whoa, whoa....don't do that" That usually results in me being in the doghouse for the rest of the day.

I cringe when I see folks start their engines and immediately throw the tranny in D.
