Enterprise usually has a slew of different Toyotas to rent including the Tacoma..I rented one myself before ordering my Tacoma..It's a great practice to rent whichever make / model your thinking of purchasing to test drive it 2 or 3 days to really get a feel for it in the conditions you expect to use it as a daily driver..National rental also has Toyotas for rent but don't know if they have Tacomas for rent as they usually have cars and Suvs..

I believe the 2016 or 2017 model year was the last of the 5 speeds if you’re looking for the ultimate 4 banger pickup experience.

Even though she is getting up there in miles (287,000) I still love my '99 4 banger!

That's unfortunate as Toyota is very slow to release anything..if you're hearing rumors then maybe it's only a few years away at best..seriously..besides it would be a unibody version vs actual truck with a frame and towing capacity..no unibody is going off road that's for sure..Cheers..Best of Luck..

    ^^^So true!
I just moved to the midwest for the 1st time ever. Lived here a little over a year and have bought / swapped / sold 2 Jeeps and 3 Toyotas. What I'm seeing here is that although it's rare, people who cared for their vehicles are not too rusty at 20-30 years old. The majority of the stuff out here is crap though, you just gotta sift through a lot of crap to find that 10% of good used vehicles. Or, in your case, take care of the new one you buy and it will outlive you. I just ordered a case of Fluid Film for this year.

The old Cherokees are pretty capable offroad... but they are more an exception to the rule.

No off roading for me. Just need something for fishing poles and to throw a deer in back. Only offroading is the minimum maintenace roads here in Mo and i dont care what ur driving u dont drive them when they are muddy.

Sounds like you need a cheap durable four-wheel-drive truck. There’s your answer.
