Took a bit of a break from Lego over the summer and got hard back into Pokémon cards, but the sales are on around here so it was time to grow the HP collection some more. Really really need to find a cabinet we like to put our sets in but having a hard time finding one.

it’s a pass for me. Lately a lot has been a pass. Partly because of cost and space.

    Yikes!

Ive just finished up a sculpture for my wifes B-Day yesterday that I had previously been carrying on since late July. Now that I'm finally done with that, I can carry on with my Birthday present to myself of a Cave-God AT-AT MOC.

The box is ridiculous, coming in at way + 20lbs of Legos and +7000 pieces.

    IMG_20220916_080943313.jpg

Now that I can finally start the AT-AT, I've found a new issue. The instructions!
They are straight from the designer Cave-God, and are actually very good, its just that with the base they come in at 545 pages. Since I will likely fashion my own custom base since it would cost nearly another $300 to buy the parts for the AT-AT base. Since Im not doing the base, the page count it cut down to a mere 422 pages. I've calculated at even the cheapest price for color printing on the cheapest paper they make would be over $80. Then you add tax and shipping on that, and getting full instructions printed would run about $110 with shipping.

The wife brought up a good point that even though I'm in IT for a living and have a company laptop and a decent desktop, I had nothing to really display the instructions other than my company LT which isn't ideal.
So the end result of this was a surprise, I ended up getting a new 10.1 HD tablet to display the instructions for around $50+ dollars more than it would have cost me to get the printed instructions here. I know, I know, I sound like a dinosaur with the printed instructions, but it harkens back to my childhood where building the latest Technic set was as good as it got.

Picked up the Disney Castle since its getting retired. My wife has been wanting it for a while. I sort of wish I had picked up a second to get graded and live in an acrylic box as an investment. Legos are more holding up better than my 401k

Ok, after going through all 30-ish bags in my AT-AT MOC, Im just now realizing the numbers on the outside of each bag do NOT correspond to each step in the instructions like I am used to in normal Lego instructions.

So it looks like I'm going to be doing some sorting. Or should I leave it all in the same arrangement its in now, only maybe use some Tupperware type containers?

This is my first actual MOC, and its a B I G G Y. Ive never actually had to do this type of sorting, and not sure if I should be doing that. Anyone got any advice on how to sort your parts, or the best way to start a MOC this huge?

    Any advice appreciated

LEGO used to have guns. When did they get to be such babies?
