    Ha!

No road bike love in this place :). Just kidding…

I’m a roadie that has turned to the dirt more and more the past two years. I love riding my road bike and where I live in New Mexico, there are plenty of places to ride that are in the middle of traffic. Still have to watch yourself but I do enjoy riding and climbing up the backroads and getting in long ass rides. But, I’ve also been able to do that on my gravel bike - Salsa Cutthroat, like someone else said, a rigid MTB with drop bars. I’ve taken this thing everyone, gravel, road, single track…..it goes and goes. Took it up to the peak of mountain here in town, just under 11k in elevation and it just spins and climbs like a beast!

And my FS Stumpy - in love with that thing! Love the single track and with the Cutt and Stumpy purchases the last 1.5, that’s truly what has brought me to the dirt more and more. Fun to get out there in solitude and enjoy the views!

But..the roadie is what helps me with my endurance! :)

I run a tailgate pad 90% of the year and went with a fairly inexpensive rolltop cover for when I need one. I think it's a perfect setup. If you think you need more security they make the rolltops with aluminum slats. I also wanted something that could integrate with bed rails in the future if I go that route. I don't think any of the folding covers will work unless the bikes are angled or the cover is lifted vertically. But I like my setup just fine. The rolltop is well out of the way when you're not using it and has done its job just fine when I do use it (mainly traveling or when carrying stuff locally in bad weather).

Finally getting some decent riding weather in North Texas, so I got to stretch my legs a little last weekend with a riding buddy. We hit the trails before sun up and I realized real quick I need to buy a headlight. Luckily dawn was close enough and I didn’t run into any trees. :anonymous:

I grabbed an olight headlight from Amazon as soon as I got home.

There is a trail somewhere in this picture. Leaves are falling quickly this year.

This change in weather stuff is for the birds! I did get in a good ride today, but man, I was dressed in my winter ninja gear to start! Snowed last night, trails were in great shape as it melted early and had the dirt in great condition by noon. But with the wind and temps, the feels like temp was 33 when I was out there! Not looking forward to the cold!

    Yeah.
On Halloween there were some leaves on the ground but still mostly in the trees here. Two days later trees were nearly bare, leaves everywhere. And then it rained last night. A hidden drainage stream under a thin layer of leaves is what caused my last big crash, face-planted and got a mouth full of dirt and a concussion to go along with it. Be safe out there!

This mornings ride was weird, all the leaves are down but it’s almost 75! The wet leaves and roots kept me on my toes

Brought someone from work out for their first trail ride. Aside from Bambi legs and not being used to being on a bike he did pretty good. I’m just happy there were no major crashes.

So, hypothetically, if an olive and barb are cut off in the brake lever, how in the name of everything holy do you get it out?

I can’t get a pair of needle nose in there and I’ve been screwing around with a pick for the better part of an hour and can’t get it out.
