The story we were told was he tagged out a section of line, then climbed the wrong pole because he had worked so long without sleep. It was during a storm restoration I guess.

Current neuroscience shows the human brain isn’t fully developed until age 26.

Lemme guess you and the other 15 folks in your car were under 26 :D

    Happy Saturday all :hattip:

I think this may be the last weekend for major paint ops. Overnight temps for the next two days no lower than 46..

We all reach that point you just need to be able to admit I am done.

No shame admitting your exhausted after those 15 hour shifts.

Good morning Shane and crew! Hope you are all doing well. I’m back from the shotgun class and a little sightseeing.

Class was great, it was fun watching my son go from a shotgun newbie to running a pump gun pretty well. He has a newfound appreciation for the “gospel of the gauge” and now wants one for work. Time for me to start looking for his Christmas present.

A couple of pics from the class

My son with one shot, ejected, and the slide going home with some good recoil control to keep it level. Proud daddy. Lol

    Have a great weekend!

What are the silver/yellow things on high neutral/ground? (Assuming that’s a common practice).

I haven’t chipped in here, but you need three things if you win… 1) (temporarily) relocate to a place unknown to others. 2) Hire security 3) Hire a tax attorney. The cost of that annuity IS the base value of the cash payout. The difference is THEY have the money and reap the investment profits. YES, you will lose a significant portion in taxes initially (just like over 10K at a casino), however you can file and recover from that overpayment at the end of the year. A good tax attorney can show you how to stage that money to defer taxes, etc. Find your own (or take the referral) for a good fiduciary estate planner.
If your state allows, claim winnings as a blind trust.

Cole and I almost hit a small buck on the way this morning then almost hit a fawn 1/2 a mile later. Saw nothing hunting but this bees nest high in the tree.

I’ve never seen a bees nest like this. Is it a more northern thing?
Paper wasps are a different story. Bees here generally find a fissure or opening in a tree (rot, termites, etc) that they can exploit. Especially homes…get up under that siding or into a wall. Just hit yellow jackets recently in a comms building where they got in via a conduit tube.

At the way back job over a wintertime shutdown some contractors were installing 2" conduit they got from the outdoor rack. It was a long run with several big junction boxes.

They came back from lunch to find bees pouring out of all the junction boxes, lots of post lunch excitement that day.
(and a good time to be needed on the other side of the building)

I like imaginary math problems, so let’s go…

Highest tax bracket is 37% which puts us at 470M. Some folks have State and Municipal taxes, so let’s just go with “walk away” value of $400M.
If you took that and “simply” invested at today’s average of 4% interest… you would make 870M in interest over those 30 years for a total sum of 1.3Billion. Of course, we know any half-wit estate planner can do 7-8% or better in the long term. With a tax attorney and a fiduciary on your side, you may see MUCH better opportunities for income growth and deductions, which offset allowing for low tax rates going forward.
Perspectives eh? BTW, I think current “gift” amount is 22K/year. You can give anyone you want that without taxes. You and your spouse are separate entities, so together, you can gift 44K/year. Neat, huh?

Not sure about your state, but here… the store gets 10K for selling the winning ticket. The Clerk? Fake congrats and a funny look from the boss. Consider one of your first actions to “gift” them… (unless they were an ass). It will surely change their trajectory as well.
