OK finally out of the box and all set up.

I just put the keyless chuck in from the beginning. Easy.

SO I have one minor gripe. The CVT arm is REALLY tough to move. Yeah I'm old and weak but damn. Does it loosen up? I didn't see that detail in manual (I could have missed it in my excitement.) It changes RPM on the fly as required just fine, just STIFF.

Otherwise, friggen awesome and THANK YOU FOR THE RECOMMENDATION!

Adjust when it's running; mine does require some slight effort but it's definitely far from hard to adjust.

Open the top cover and make sure the power cable doesn't rub the wheel.

Looks right at home with that background!

I bolted mine down, just to be safe even though it has plenty of heft.

    Nothing rubbing.

BUT I see how it works. Seems like the CVT pulley is really tight on the sliding shaft. I'm going to contact WEN first before I lube...........

Also I should note: Increasing speed the force required is LESS (driven pulley getting smaller OD) , slowing (pulley larger OD) the force required at the lever arm is MORE. So it makes sense.

I send a request to WEN

    Bolted down with hefty bolts.

For thin wall on the evo, there is a good third party blade with 90 teeth I think. We have it ad work and the number combined with a clearing tooth behind make thin material easier. I will look it up, but I think Menards seems one and we got replacements on Amazon. Tomax blades I think

I've been lurking on this long enough... so here's my (less) messy (than usual) shop.

When I moved in with my now wife this was my first project... Building a shop. (What on earth do you need all that space for??) LOL.

The welding table was the first big upgrade. That was a beast to fabricate. It weighs about 900lbs but rolls around pretty easily.

    IMG_9819.HEIC.jpg
    IMG_9823.HEIC.jpg
    IMG_9821.HEIC.jpg

The next big project was the big shelf, about 2 years ago to replace a ton of metro shelving that didn't quite fit those bins. This holds twice the stuff in the same space, just by being built to fit. It's also on a pivot so it can swing out to clear the garage door opening so I can slide in 10' sticks from the end, or store flat stock on the back side. I needed a better materials solution before the minimill showed up.

Minimill arrived about 1.5 years ago and has been a blast. I'm still learning a ton.

The manual lathe and mill were my dad's - he got them when I was about 6 years old and refurbished them. They're as old as me, but have seen such light use (and are from an era where machine tools were in general a little higher quality) they still cut fine parts. Well, the lathe does. The mill is in need of some parts. ;)

I asked them if it is normal to use 500 lb ft to move the speed lever and if there is a way to loosen it up. Nothing. Calling them now.......

    So it's really that bad?

Did you see if anything is binding? Like I said mine takes very little effort at all to speed up or slow down.

Both arms BARELY moved it at first.

I lubed the drill shaft the other day. It helped marginally.

I CALLED them this AM. Spoke to a nice fellow. Lube it and use it he recommended.

So I just lubed the points he recommended. And just let it run and pumped it back and forth, slow and fast, slow and fast, up and down went the pulleys.

It's getting better. I'll give it time then repeat.

I also loosened the factory nut on the control shaft speed hub - aha - that helped a lot! That thing was really cranked down (user only installs the arm if you recall). Careful, and too loose and the speed will increase without touching the lever!

I removed the whole speed hub, lubed and retightened to just tight enough.

Whammo pretty nice and improves as I use it. Nothing in the manual about this at all that I can see.
