Same. Did this with all my manuals. But never had an issue since I have never had a remote starter.

This is true about so many professions nowadays.

    upload_2022-11-5_8-53-40.jpg

My buddy is a firefighter EMT. Almost everyone he talks about has some sort of second job. He himself is a realtor and after only a few years at the grind of being a realtor, is making way more from that. And the stress levels are, shockingly, a lot lower.

Teachers - IF they work the summer make okay, but similar to paramedics. That said, most teachers have a pretty good retirement setup, so they might not get paid a lot but once they retire they're doing all right. Medics their retirement is getting worse, and others in other industries (self included) may get paid more but our retirement is zero given, all on us to set up. Which is fine.

Medics surprised me when I found out their pay was crap. It's a trained field without a lot of people wanting to do it. The supply isn't there vs the demand, so that was really surprising that firefighters and EMTs are paid that low.

    All accurate.

In reality, pay sucks across a lot of fields.

I've seen how competitors pay their employees, and it is disgusting.
I won't get into it much, but, the view on pay in this country is beyond FUBAR.

My ole lady is going to a non profit. Director position. The hospital she is with currently asked her to stay if they matched her offer. This is the second time she has/was offered a job and she stayed the first time. Not this time. Why stay if the only raise you get is when you threaten to leave!?

Damn only $28 an hour? You can make a little more putting fuel in buses at my work. I think top rate is nearly $29 an hour now for fuelers.

    Well, that's frustrating as hell...

Wheel bearing going bad, suspect the passenger side as I get really loud grinding on left turns. I jacked up the front end this morning and give both front wheels some spins. No noise whatsoever from the right side, turns freely and all seems good. Driver side is a little stiff, a little gritty sounding, and I figured maybe it was the inboard driver side bearing. Swapped out the hub with the one spare I had on hand, took it for a test drive and...nope, still grinding.

Well now I need another set of hubs, one for the passenger side and another spare JIC. :(

I guess it could be worse.

Whatever @05Taco4x4 uses in his assembly. I think the one I just popped in was NSK.

I changed my rear shocks today for the first time in 160K miles. They were pretty rusty but surprisingly still seemed to have good pressure. I guess Bilstein makes some pretty good shocks.

At least now it's still kind of warm out to have to deal with that crap.

That is one plus, a lot of employers are realizing that..plus the mental health parity in the 2000s.

Something to be said with knowing what you're getting with the current employer, though I don't disagree with the thought you present in the last piece?
