No worries. I’m running 31in tires in a 245/75/17. I went from a 265 width to a 245 to save a little weight and gain some traction benefits of a skinny tire.

I have Toyo AT3’s that have done well with everything I’ve thrown at them. They do hold rocks though. I would also check out Cooper all terrains, WildPeaks, etc. Since E-rated are heavier, I compared weights of the higher quality tires. I ended up lighter with my skinny tire than my 265 Wildpeaks while keeping the same clearance. I saved about 7lbs each. Hope this helps.

    Hey KDR - thanks

Good to hear you were able to get it dried out quickly and it was just water (there was some blue staining in ours from the chemicals).

We are using the Thetford 365 with AquaKem (not available anymore which is super sad). As far as a locker, we haven't even put a strap on it because it's been so stable but now we'll have to revisit that and figure out a better solution to keep it secure. The toilet has been just sitting in front of the propane box where it fits very well. I like the idea of placing it on sliders and storing it under a bench behind the truck cab on the floor of the Kimbo but that is where we store our fridge/freezer. We'll likely make a soft cover for it and strap it to the propane storage, simple solutions are sometimes the best.

Floor update: I attempted to separate the thin plywood from the insulation but it's very secure and would make a mess removing it so we're going to pick up a pack of VLP and a 2" thick foam board insulation and that should be plenty of support without a piece of plywood and it should also be an upgrade from 1" to 2" on the insulation. We'll be sure to share any improvements on the stratification of heat/cold on the winter trips. Pictures of the floor removed and the installation of the new flooring will be posted as I get a chance - work is crazy right now so all projects are on hold.

Hope everyone is ready for winter! It's getting cold here quick and may even see snow in the Puget Sound next week!!!

Running the 265/75R16 BFG K02, the tires and have not given them another thought. Road handling is fantastic (occasionally I forget that the Kimbo is on) and off road is great too.

One thing to note, the stock tires are 265/70r16 but they're around $30 per tire more expensive than the 75's when I bought mine but Costco won't install them - they're not the stock size - but they will mount and balance them.

    Hey all,
A question to anyone who has installed solar panels on the roof of their Kimbo. I see there is a rectangular patch near the center of the roof that measures approx. 2"x3" -- I wonder if this is where the entry gland would have gone if I opted for the factory solar... it makes sense since my camper has cut-outs and holes for all the other options that I opted out of. If anyone knows or has a picture of where the wires enter the camper that would be great! Thanks in advance.

Profloundering, I assume the ply/foam/lino composite floor lifted out in one piece? was it fastened down in any way?

All one piece (glued together) and was able to remove in one piece - it's tight so I sacrificed the flooring so I didn't damage the side pieces trying to pry it out...ended up using screws into the flooring to lift with.

Thanks! it seems like that but it's impossible to know for sure unless you're willing to lift it out. I imagine you will use the old floor section as a template and it should drop right in?

That does look like the spot where the solar wiring passes through the roof.

So ready for some winter camping. New ski setup and snow falling have me stoked. Will probably get out next this Thanksgiving break. A couple of resorts should have some decent amount open for early season and mountain passes may have some accessible spots still. There is always the friend's driveway.

Hi Voltron, did this storage piece circled come standard as part of your shell model? I am trying to understand if that box comes standard or if you only get that storage piece when purchasing the shower module.Screen Shot 2022-11-12 at 7.09.04 AM.jpg

That storage did come with my unit that was pretty much the base model with only the Fan upgraded.

Yep, it's standard. The shower option requires additional fabrication to the storage area.

Hey folks. We’re 2 weeks from pickup date and VERY excited!! We’ve upgraded tires and had airbags installed. Thanks for all the recommendations from the community on the tires.

Another question…. What are folks using as ground anchors when your Kimbo is removed? I want to be able to get in and out without it tipping over. I’m trying to find good ground anchors to go into dirt/grass and they all seem pretty light duty. I don’t have a concrete drive.

Has anyone created any type of stand or tripod solution to put under the bed? I was trying to find some large/tall saw horses with no luck.

I'm using the support stand below with a 2x4 in-between. Its heavy but portable if you had to take it with you. It works great at home and doesn't take up that much space. When raising it, you only need to get the 2x4 snug under the bed platform.

I believe a few other owners may have some other options too.

Voltron4x4, that is exactly what I have been looking for. I'll be buying that immediately! Thanks again. Have you used ground stakes of any kind to anchor the front (door end)? The reviews on all the stakes I've looked at don't seem great and I don't have the ability to anchor into concrete.
