They lost telemetry during reentry and had to stand off the chopper which uses that information in onboard displays to coordinate the catch.

It was moldy from the get go. Cost plus has never been a model for cost efficiency and has probably been the direct cause of countless project cancellations, Constellation being one of them. Most didn’t benefit from rebirth as it did though some probably had more going for them. Besides, everyone NASA contracts with is a commercial provider anyway so wtf does his comment even mean? Typical politician no speak.

I'm going to laugh my butt off if SLS has to rollback for another hurricane.

Aren’t they running out of rollbacks as well? I remember something about how the structure of the rocket can only handle so many trips out and back.

Orion uses Hypergolic fuels so at some point it will have to be destacked, drained, and all soft seals replaced as those degrade in the presence of HG fuel.

I have no idea. We could ask @Hunterdc1 if he knows, but I think he's in SC hunting right now.

It's getting hairy, for a lot of reasons. The srbs are certed until Dec 9th and 14th, after that Northrup will have to re-certify them, or not.

Orion does have hypers, I put them there. They did not off-load before the last roll back as draining from Orion requires de-stacking at a totally different facility(MPPF).

The aft skirts on the bottom of the boosters are also filled with hydrazine. We off-loaded it before the first roll back but not before the 2nd roll. Timeline wise, it's not possible to drain the skirts before this storm gets here.

I dont follow the day to day of SpaceX like some of you but I've gathered that some of X's payload technicians from here are in Boca Chica doing integration work on Starlink v2.0. I'm really not sure if that is news or not.

Yeah there's apparently a 'light' version of the v2 sats that can fit in a F9 fairing.

Hydrogen has its drawbacks as well as the enhanced performance. It wasn’t bad luck that kept SLS on the ground back in august and weather at this time of year is always problematic. Launch windows weren’t as infrequent for shuttle missions that only went to Leo so this is different. They might still get it done but the sequence of events is certainly highlighting the factors in play and expiration dates on inaccessible hardware isn’t helping. It’s as if Murphy is going through the launch plan with glee taking advantage of every possible point of failure.
