Tacoma Vs. Rivian

I saw one a few weeks ago with a pintel hitch in the reciever, would have liked to see what they were towing with it.

 

Not everyone lives in SF and LA.

 

I just found out last week that roller blades existed.

 

I saw a rivian multiple times around big bend and Terlingua this week. Primitive camping. I have no idea where or how he was recharging.

Color me impressed though.

 

Who wants a knife that rolls?

 

Like for pizzas? Never knew that was what they were called.

 

I'm in the Philly suburbs. Saw three Rivian pickups and a big Rivian SUV. They all looked pretty good.

 

They're like ice skates but with wheels, some people call them inline skates.

 

A month ago I had only seen 2 or 3 Rivian trucks in person. Today I saw at least half a dozen. They're ramping up. I like them, my wife likes them. She keeps asking why we don't buy one. It's like she keeps forgetting that I don't want to spend 6 figures on a truck.

 

But they aren't 6 figures.

 

Buying one now at the current price is definitely going to be rough in the wallet.

 

Starting price isn’t but it’s really easy to build one in the mid $90k range with just a few options added. If you live in a state with taxes then the OTD price is easy to get up over $100k.

 

I've been on the build and price page enough to know that they certainly are 6 figures the way I'd want one.

 

Next thing you'll be told to go buy a Nissan Leaf because Rivian premium too high.

On going theme in this thread. People mention the exuberant price of the Rivian, or other high end EVs. Somebody will mention that there are other more economically priced EVs available.

 

Ahh got it. We can argue over anything around here.

 

Yup here in MA the sales tax would be about $6K. That’s put it over $100K for the options I would add and puts it into the realm of absurdity.

 

Yeah and they’re all turds.

 

Round and round we go.
If someone made a mini electric truck like a Maverick or Santa Cruz I would buy one. It would be perfect for commuting and local trips. Seems like it would be the perfect platform for an EV. I don’t know why all the manufacturers are pushing full size truck EVs.
