Driver will lose their job...sucks for them but probably wouldn't be had they fessed up to the crash. The driver had to know what happened. Glad you have the video. A call to DHL tomorrow will get things rolling...maybe your insurance agent will want to make the call.

Definitely. Unfortunately if they didn’t confess it could be hit and run
. My father in law wants us to get a lawyer just in case. I’m only 30 and have no life experience with this stuff

I guess it couldn't hurt to drop a dime and talk with an atty. Check with your agent in the morning, they will probably tell you it's not necessary.

Bro what?! This is crazy, I’ve missed so much. You may have to keep important updates on the first page. I need to see this through now.

For me personally I don’t want a truck that’s been repaired and now has moderate body damage on carfax. My truck is not even a month old and this person hit and ran. I at least want what I had in return but we will see. Or they pay a difference in the depreciation in value for having to go through a body shop

Good idea! I’ll have to update the first page. It’s been an insane day of tracking and calling and back to the drawing board. Luckily the neighbor with the footage had 24/7 recording and gave me his micro usb memory card. My wife and I then spent minute by minute looking through footage. I still can’t believe they didn’t stop to leave any note.

Thank man, I keep telling myself I’m done. Then I see something on tacomaworld that I don’t need. I had to shake the Trd beadlock wheels for the SCS ones, but man I miss those wheels. Just didn’t fit my build. I’m curious to see where your build goes. I’m sure you’ll get the incident worked out.

Thanks man! Love the scs wheels. Been in talks with Dustin at FN to get the overlander wheels in 17”. And we will see if it’s with this truck or another one! Depends on the damage. My guess is it’s close to 10k honestly and it was a big truck that hit me so you never really know about frame damage. Fingers crossed it all gets worked out. I think if it was a hit at the rear of the truck the frame would have bent for sure

WOW, great news. Saved your hide for sure there!

Especially infuriating because they had to have known they hit you.

With respect, @OldSchlPunk ..TOO FUCKIN BAD! Serves them right for not owning up while on the clock especially. If this was my truck, I'd be pushing for that person to have repercussions at work (among other things).

Oh no, it's hit and run regardless. And if this was me, I'd go that route with criminal charges. Maybe because I'm just a jackass, but I have to wonder how many times this person has done that before and gotten away with it.

    Me neither. Sad.

Do NOT call DHL. You call your insurance and the police that took the report. You can cock up what your insurance can do if you say the wrong thing. If DHL tries to contact you, you refer them to your insurance company. This is your insurance company's issue, they will contact DHL as needed and they have better lawyers than you can afford. This should cost you nothing. That's the whole point of insurance.

This is true! My wife works for an accident attorney law firm. These won’t usually take property damage cases but your insurance can fight for you. Just report all of your findings to your insurance. Don’t call DHL and try to negotiate yourself. They will use anything you say against you and lowball you for repairs.
Side note, once your insurance sorts it all out, send the truck to a Toyota certified Bodyshop only! Not all Toyota dealers have a Toyota certified body shop. You may need to travel but they are far more advanced at repairing your vehicle than any other body shop and obviously demand OEM parts.

@TwinTaco31719 you need to get to researching Diminished Value claims for your state, as well. That's one thing your insurance may not be a huge help with. Find out if they are allowed and look into the process. The sooner you learn this stuff the better.
