Here is where the loader tractor was -- resting -- in the hedgerow.

After cutting the majority of the brush away I used the truck in 4 low to extricate it. One tire holds air...

Did your truck make a nice grinding noise going into 4LO? I try and kick mine on every couple months (along with the locker) and it grinds like an old manual transmission every darn time... o_O

    Belated good morning folks :hattip:

Hope everyone was on time for work this morning.

True story- my BIL (attorney) and his wife (teacher) missed changing the clocks when they were first married…. Didn’t go over too well for them at the time.

    VERY cool ("though I don't really get a siren on a tow-truck...)

Nope, no grind. It always makes kind of a soft "ka-tink-clank" noise going in and out is all.

You might try stopping in neutral, apply and hold the brakes, shift into park and then shift. I had to do that on some older trucks shifting into low when equipped with an automatic.
The older lever actuated transfer cases had neutral between 4 high and 4 low, you had to quickly pull the lever between the two ranges without pausing in neutral.

Around here, one company has red and blue lights and sirens and responds with the Fire Department as an emergency vehicle.

    Sharp eye!
Jacobsen GT 12, Kohler 301 engine (12 hp) and manual transmission, parts tractor probably.
The "tube frame" Fords were built by Jacobsen, different sheet metal and paint. (1972 - 83)
The Ford is a 1972 as it has the white steering wheel, one year only.

In "the old days" we used to have to listen to the radio to get the correct time, bigger towns had a phone number to call for the time but not in more rural areas.

Good boots aren't a purchase, they're an investment. I've got two pair of identical Boulet boots that I've had for probably >35 years - there are about $200/pair when I bought them. Each pair has been fully rebuilt once about ten years ago; I wear one, and when the soles/heels wear out, they go to the cobbler for a 'tune up' and the other pair comes out of the closet.

The town was small enough we could dial just the last 4 numbers into the 1990's probably.

We had a party line with the people across the street, to call them there was a code number you dialed and both phones rang, when it stopped ringing you knew they had picked up and then you did too.

My grandmother lived out in the boondocks, there were 10 houses on the party line, although each house had a distinctive ring all 10 houses rang for all calls. You could answer "your ring" on any phone -- and so could anyone else. :gossip:

You need to drive around a mile in 4hi or lo once a month to keep the gear lubricated. Change oil every 30k.
Mines smooth as butter even at 40mph (4Hi).

Switching into 4HI is no issue and I'll drive through town and engage it (bout a mile long, slow, and strait) but it's changing into 4LO I get that nice grind. Even after exercising it several times it still does it. Must be that special low viscosity fluid they put in there now...

I once heard a story about a guy that won and did not immediately claim his winnings. Instead he put the winning ticket in a safe deposit box then started researching. He looked at people who had won and were happy and ones that had won and were not, or their life had been ruined by winning.(bankrupt, destitute, dead, etc.) He figured out what he needed to do before cashing in the winning ticket. I have no information if his approach worked or not..

I heard of another guy who won and he gathered all his relatives and basically told them that they were receiving a one time check and that the money was theirs to do with as they wanted, but that check was all that they were receiving. If they invested poorly or not at all, spent it, gambled it away, etc. that was their decision. Just don't come looking for more.

Any recommendation for durable, low maintenance (can be washed with other things and no special settings) winter steel toe boot socks?

I wear Cloudline Merino Wool daily. I live in AZ, and I wear them in the summer and winter. Wash with the wife's Delicates and hang over a chair to dry or on low heat. Been wearing them for years and have not thrown a pair out yet.
