Van Horn and Fort Stockton both have Electrify America fast chargers, 150ish miles away. Just looking at the map of chargers I’d stop there, charge to 100%, explore/camp Big Bend until I needed to charge and camp at an RV park or stay at a hotel for an overnight to top back to 100%. Repeat every few days for as many days as you want to stay and then one last night before heading back home to top off to 100%. These are all the level 2 or RV 50 amp charging spots listed.

Maybe he's using Plugshare or went to a private residence.

Can you add an air horn to an EV? The 12volt system should support it.

Yep, worth it if you’re trying to get to somewhere with range to explore rather than charge on a slow level 2 charger right away. For that trip I’d plan to spend the last charge to 100% in the store buying food and such for the camping trip so it wouldn’t be wasted time.

Batteries are cool, people. I use them all the time.
You should have swapped in a dongle and let his truck milk the sweet Lobster solar. If only he weren’t so popular and unapproachable!

Incorrect. I'm the one that's inapproachable. Had several people approach this week wanting to talk about Lobster's sweet setup, and in response they received my boomerstick lobbed in their general direction.

I noticed a few hit pieces on Toyota for not backing battery tech for vehicles. The reason Toyota is focused on hydrogen is that it's a national green plan. There's a lot that batteries can't do, so there're focused on a more comprehensive plan that powers cars and industry on nuclear and hydrogen

    Does it though?

    Aftermarket options?
    Warranty and parts?
    Longevity?
    Reliability?
    Resale value?

All giant unknowns or worse with Rivian, while the Tacoma leads in all those metrics.

Rivian trucks only have 5lug hubs. Every other midsize and half ton all have 6lug hubs.

Can't take rivian seriously, until they get 6 lugs

5 lug Rivian 6lug Tacoma, those are the only numbers that matter.

Every other midsize, and half ton in production excluding Ram classic has 6 lug hubs on their truck.

    Edit

    Dozed off, I'm repeating myself.

None of those are truck specific metrics though. I was meaning things like payload, towing capacity, ground clearance, etc that are used by manufacturers to differentiate their truck from the competition.

2nd gen Tundra is a 5 lugger, but it's a dinosaur no longer in production. V8 makes up for it.

No longer in production. I'd take those 5 lug Toyotas any day over a Rivian. 1st and 2nd gen 5lug Tacomas. Are awsome too, can't really compare those to a R1T.
