Yep, I had one of those roller trainers for a bit (still in the basement somewhere), had a couple spectacular wipeouts in my living room and decided that wasn't for me...

 

Yup, scary AF at first. Almost killed the cat when I came off the rollers in the basement, he actually climbed the wall to get out of the way. That may have knocked him down to 6 or so lives.

 

I first used them about 20 years ago and, of course, beefed it a few times. Then I went a long time with no issues. Last winter I was trying to use my phone as a mouse to use my laptop while I was riding them. I was trying to start a new episode of Better Call Saul when the calamity happened. I was up in the atttic and my wife though I was coming through the floor. She helped me get my feet unclipped from the pedals so I could pick my carcass up off the ground.

Made up for almost two decades with no issues in one giant calamity.

 

Heck no to the rollers! Haha. And 180rpm on those! That’s insane!

 

Working on leg speed for track racing is important so we would do a ton of drills on the rollers and try to one up each other with leg speed.

But right now my main rides are Trek Checkpoint sl5 for gravel and road( I picked up an extra set of wheels to swap for gravel or road, Santa Cruz bronson v3, and an older Vassago 29 Hard tail.

I have a checkpoint alr4! older one. but it's a pretty good gravel/road bike combo.

Mines a 2020 model. I was planning on getting the al5 but it was pretty much the only model the shop still had in my size in summer 2020.
But it works great and with 32mm conti gp5000 I'm able to keep up with some of the road bikers around me.

Through corners, down chutes, over jumps... Being towed in is like cheating, and the lessons learned stick.
I had two friends I always wanted to be able to keep up with, and even just the motivation alone was enough to work on things when they weren't around. Want to be fast? Ride with fast people.

 

Yeah definitely! Trying to stay on my buddies tire for a few miles was enough to really focus better line choices and allowing the bike's suspension and my own body to suck up some of the harder hits.

Always a humbling time when you think you are progressing to someone's level then they stop handicapping themselves lol.

 

Being tempted by Oakley Sutro and 100% S3 glasses. Daddy needs some new blades for the dusty months down here.

 

You leaning one way or the other? I have been eyeing up a set of Smith photochromatic lens to help with the back and forth of woods to sun.

 

For those of you looking at glasses, I recently purchased through two companies - Revant and Blenders.

Revant - I freshened up three older Oakley frames I’ve had. Works perfectly! I’m going to order some photochromatic lens as well for my Jaw Bones now that the time has changed and I’m riding with old workshop glasses. But, the price is nice on these from Revant and they have most any frame you can imagine. I did have issues with one frame and couldn’t keep the lens in, so they sent me a new set and still had an issue. They refunded my money.

Blenders - they have some decent sunglasses for $50 a pop. I picked up some sutro style glasses (I ordered 3 total) and have enjoyed them. Polarized and fit well and don’t feel cheap either.

I've done Fuse lens replacements on two pairs of glasses (Smiths and Natives) with good results. The Smiths are even prescription lenses and my eyes are pretty bad and I'm happy with them.
