OP, awesome news…. Now just sit back and let things play out. Like everyone has said, don’t play your cards directly with DHL, let the insurance company handle that part. When it comes to repairs, use a Toyota authorized dealer regardless of what the insurance company says.

Good to get everything tied up on the discovery process, now for the wait. In the mean time you mentioned that you parked on the street, in the location you are at if at all possible never park there again. It looks like a t intersection having had 2 cars involved in hit and runs in similar conditions I now pay attention to things like this. This was before cameras. DUI's, distracted drivers and kids trying to drift a corner sets you up for stuff like this. The first time for me it was a 8yr old 76' caprice and it turned into a 18 yr old money making shit box. I had at the time a short driveway too. I got paid out by the people who did it on them because of witnesses that took down plate #'s but I maintained it and sold it for the engine and transmission when I got rid of it. It had just over 110k on it and the engine was still close to spec.

Sad news! It was however very entertaining reading this thread. As my truck is also only 2 months old I would feel devastated if this happened. I stare at people in parking lots all the time trying to keep from that first door ding. Armor is the only way to keep this from happening. At least minimizing the damage. Glad you are on the right track to getting some resolution!

Brother, I hate that your truck got damaged but love that you were able to nail the culprit with hard evidence! You really cannot even take a shit these days without it being caught on video!

PS: agree with others that recommend your let your insurance company handle this. I know all of this sucks, but at the end of the day this really is just a property damage claim and its your insurance company's job to make you whole. Your insurance company will then go after this delivery company to recoup the payout required to fix your truck. You should not have to deal with any of that latter part.

Well looks like it is narrowed down. I’d take the cab piece with me and go to their office. Say something like your cab left this where my truck apparently was in their way. Please provide your insurance company’s info

Nope. That's a waste of time and won't get you much. You contact your insurance with the info and the tape and you let them handle it. DHL could hide it from you, deny it, etc. You aren't scary. Your insurance company and their lawyers are.

I wonder of the OP can work the diminished value angle. The vehicle is practically brand new, and now it does not have a clean CarFax once insurance processes a claim.

He said that his state is a diminished value state and he's looking into it.

My insurance (farmers) are a bunch of idiots. I spent an hour on the phone with the claim adjuster and he said they want me to go through farmers insurance, pay my deductible and then submit a claim to Dhl after the repairs are done. I told him hell no. He did mention the diminished value claim but only after I eluded to it.
