I asked to speak to one of their lawyers or higher ups and he kept deferring. I still haven’t called DHL and don’t plan on it anytime soon. No one has contacted me from DHL so looks like the person didn’t turn themselves in

wish i could say this is uncommon, but it’s not. they want to get the vehicle fixed as soon as possible and fight it out with their insurance company later. this happens a lot especially when dealing with commercial insurance. you would most likely get your deductible back.

That’s so screwed up but that’s what happens unfortunately. Your insurance has a duty to you to make you whole and get your vehicle repaired but they want you to pay your deductible and you fight DHL for reimbursement of that deductible.

DHL is going to turn right back around and say you should’ve contacted them first before any repairs or claims. As time goes by it will be easier for DHL to say it wasn’t their van that did the damage because their vans get pretty beat up anyways.

I would say notify DHL, tell them what you have and weigh your options. The more time that goes by, the harder it is to prove a case. All of the evidence points towards DHL so there’s very little you can say to the point that they could use anything against you.

it’s just hard to know what angle to take. Some people are saying don’t contact DHL. Some people are telling me to go through Reno PD.. etc

It’s also possible that van is owned and operated by a contractor for Day and a Half Late.

Might be worth scoping out where their depot is to see if you can find the van missing that piece, and take photographs including the license plate.

    Your insurance sucks balls.

When my 2nd gen for totalled by an uninsured loser, my insurance was friggin awesome!! American Family through Costco!!! They kept me in the loop every day and every time I called I was able to speak to the same adjuster and settlement agent. Only took 1 week from my accident to getting my direct deposit. OP, once this is over, time to change insurance companies.

I filed through my insurance company, paid the $250 deductible, and let my insurance company do the legwork of going after the uninsured driver. I’ll get my deductible back if they’re able to get any money from the other person (I’m not holding my breath since that person couldn’t even afford car insurance).

On mine (Cobra SC200D) it's one card for both cams, it includes the wiring. I bought an additional wiring kit for the constant power but it was cheap $

You did the right thing by contacting the PD and your insurance. You should contact the PD again to update the report with the additional information you have obtained IMO..just crossing the t's

    Story Time:

Years ago my buddy was a bicycle messenger. He was working one day, pedaling along minding his own business and… following the traffic laws. A UPS truck crossed two lanes, ran a red light and made an illegal turn, the wrong way, onto a one way street. He ran my buddy the F over… broken pelvis, collapsed lung, cracked skull, etc. Surgeries, induced coma, rehab for weeks… the whole shebang, lucky to be alive. Anywho, at the time, UPS drivers, of a certain seniority, were not eligible for company-provided insurance, but they were required to carry their own as a condition of employment and were partially reimbursed. A lot of the drivers had no insurance or it was junk/lapsed and nobody at UPS checked up on it. The guy who ran my buddy over had no insurance and not a penny to his name. Suffice to say, it was a long legal battle and as I recall the hospital ate most of it, my buddies car insurance paid some, UPS paid none and the dude who ran him over skipped town…

to this day, if it ships UPS, I won’t buy it.

So just to clarify my wife wants to hold off contacting DHI. I’m still wanting them to know what they did. Not sure the route to take

Let your insurance do the talking. They have more leverage especially with a police report and that evidence.

Ask for the adjuster's supervisor. Nevada probably has an interagency insurance reimbursement agreement. Which means that regardless of how much time Farmers spends to recover the funds DHL (which is probably self-insured) pays, there won't be any money paid for the adjuster's time. So, if you do are the legwork, the Farmer's adjuster can work on other cases. And save money.

If Farmers still gives you grief, contact an attorney. Insurance companies that unfairly deny their policyholders benefits pay the benefits and the policyholder's attorney fees when policyholders have to sue.

BTW, the nearest Toyota Certified Collision Center is in 80 miles away in Auburn, Calif.
