Just enough to look kinda cool.
Work got cancelled cause we got snow on the ground, nobody wants to work in the mud so we called it. I’m fine with that, sleep in, clean the house and a local wheeling group is going out this afternoon to play in the snow.

Photo dump. Been driving solo for about a month now. Pretty cool experience driving a lot of different equipment. P&D will have you taking a semi into some ridiculous places lol

Done. Small scare last night. Up in pasco wa. 230 am and truck starts spewing coolant out of the cap. Some reason cap won't tighten enough. Was able to make it back, 5.5 hr drive. Hopefully it's just a faulty cap, it looked fine tho.

So one Friday I did 30 loads in 11 hours, lots of sitting in the truck. Only time I got out was to go into the scale shack. I'm pretty fit for. 60+ year old but this day was hard on my back, really not liking this sitting all day crap. I'm pretty close to retirement and don't need a full time job. On Sunday I worked for a friend who cuts, splits and delivers firewood. Not a lot of money in it but 2 days a week will keep my wife and me comfortable. I was tired at the end of the day but I felt good. My wife is competitive and knew I was out having a paid workout so had to go for a run to keep up lol. I told her by January il be finished with trucking and go part time wood cutting,I'll be back to fighting weight quickly and have my beach body back by summer lol.

I forgot to change the clock on my truck and I ended up eating my lunch an hour and a half early. Had to survive on my precious few snacks I had left.

So I don't want to seem like I'm a constant winer and complainer but let me give you guys a little insight into what kind of a shit company I work for. I can't get them to fix my windshield wiper on the drivers side, bad shaft or something they won't spend any money on, but hey you don't need to see. Bad headlights, same thing. Door seal leaks water on you when it's raining, no fix.
Due for a couple tires on the trailer again, but hey you only haul 70k.
    20221108_075354.jpg
Clamps for the air hoses broke, do they replace them? Nope, Nascar zip ties.
    20221108_075417.jpg 20221108_075420.jpg
But hey at least it's not dragging on the cat walk. We'll see what happens in a tight turn.
    20221108_075425.jpg
How about the under hood exhaust leak that I've been dealing with for about a year? Can't understand why I get headaches sometimes at the end of the day.
    20221108_075436.jpg 20221108_075448.jpg
Is it too much to ask to keep up on the repairs of your truck? And this doesn't even cover the shitty hour and dispatch.
    Thanks for letting me vent!

Pull into a scale and have them inspect that bs, then call the company and tell them where their junk is parked. F them, to many other jobs out there, get the hell out of there.

Oh he’s been looking for other jobs but not much better out there is what it sounds like but I would call up dot and recommend an audit of your company. That way you don’t have to risk getting nailed your self but the company still gets looked over by dot.

Well I ptched a fit today and supposedly the truck is going in the shop tomorrow. You know the same shop that hasent been able to fix the exhaust leak for the last year, the same shop that can't fix a diff leak, the same shop that took 12 times to fix the ac and now it's going out again and the fan won't blow very hard.
Yeah it sucks! And this is the best I can find in my area right now, unless I take a cut in pay and drive farther. Seems like I'm stuck, but I'm still looking..........

Man, with the amount of howling about driver shortages you should be able to take your pick so long as you have a decent record. I'm abandon that sinking ship before you get hurt.

You’d think, but when I was looking for jobs it was always 2 years of experience (usually specialised dirt/flatbed/equipment/etc) and need to be 25+. Like no wonder there’s a shortage, you’re discouraging the next generation of drivers before they even start. As a 21y/o with fresh CDL it was a bit of a search to find a company that wasn’t a major corporation. I had some odd experience under my belt having come from tow trucks but there wasn’t much for me without going to “train” under a big courier or OTR.

    Rant over… grumble grumble grumble

I've got a good record, no tickets or major accidents. Have many years of experience under my belt. But the pay just isn't up to par around here. So I keep looking
Well it's HUMPDAY! And the truck went in for service this morning. I'm in a pos international rental truck for God knows how long now. The shifter is so worn out it hits the dash when you go to shift it and it seems like it goes from door to door, lol.
And yes I agree the company I'm working for now is a shit show. But that's kinda how it is with most companies in the Detroit area, been that way forever and they'll never change. And I'm to damn old to move again.
