Put 255/85/16s on stock OR wheels and suspension

Thanks! I do get just a tad in Reverse at full lock. Havent had a chance to do full compression yet, but hopefully Monday ill know more.. Was sure I was going to have to do CMC, but think not now.. Im on 17x8 0.

 

What psi (cold) are people running cooper st maxx 255/85r16 at?

 

I run my e-load LT255/85r16’s at 37psi on the road based on the manufacturers max load at air pressure ratings.

Hey guys, could you help me out? I'm putting 5100's on my front tomorrow (2020 OR) to level with my already installed RAS (like an AAL). Trying to figure out where to put the clip on the shock. My measurement to the bottom of the rear wheelwell is 37.5" and my front is 34.75" but it seems if I raise the front to 37 or more it's gonna look really weird. The third position on the shock would put it right at 36"... would that be best?

I'm doing this to put on the 255/85-16 tomorrow and get it leveled out! Thanks!

BTW I THINK IT'S A LITTLE WEIRD, ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS HAVE 4 CLIP POSITIONS BUT MY SHOCKS HAVE 5 POSITIONS!

Hmm, looks like the Bilstein website shows better instructions than I got in the box. I'm thinking position #4 (1.55") ??

I am running 255 Geolandars on my Taco with about 2" of lift courtesy of an OME Nitrocharger setup (888s on front). For some reason when I am at full lock turning right only my right tire rubs the frame. Not the cab mount, not the UCA. It appears to be the bottom of the frame. I assume this could be corrected with a proper alignment (I have SPC LR UCAs), but I find it odd; I've never heard of this type of rubbing, especially with stock wheels on 255s. Has anyone else heard of this? Search is bringing up nothing but maybe I'm missing the right terms.

 

Anyone here have 255/85/17s? New size from Mickey.

It depends on the LCA cam bolt setting. If the front cam is set too far inward, this can happen. Move the front cam out a little (say 45 deg), re-adjust toe, then zero the camber with the SPC UCA's slotted upper ball joint.

 

Will 255/85/16's fit on 2022 stock trd pro without rubbing? Curious if anyone else has done this with theirs?

I'm sure you could find a Pro somewhere in the 160 pages, however you don't need to. All the 3rd gens are the same as far as fitting wheels and tires and many other regards.

 

Well after a week if slowly reading I finally made it to the end. I’m convinced on switching from 265/75/16 over to 255/85/16.

I’m running 265/75/16 wildpeaks now. Was back and forth on bfgs st maxx courser cxt and wildpeaks. I’d go with the cxt’s but they’re out 4-8 weeks and I need new tires now. Pretty set on the Wildpeak m/ts now unless the CXTs pop up for sale soon.

Already have a lift so we’ll see if the uca is an issue but I think it should be fine being a more narrow tire.

Will post photos once it’s done.

 

Ended up changing my mind and going with the geolanders instead. On drive back from the shop I noticed a few things, mostly expected. You can definitely feel the knobs but I’m already used to it. Same with road noise as well. lost roughly 2mpg but I haven’t done the conversion to see exactly what it dropped. Can’t really use cruise control anymore for doing steep climbs above 55mph because bounces around gears too much. When you get into small grooves in the road while going 65+ it likes to pull you in more than the 266/75/16 I’m coming from. Overall I like them so far.

 

Looks awesome! Do you have the new TRD UCA’s on your truck? I only have about 2k miles on my geo’s but very quiet for an MT. You don’t get that “wahhhhhhhhhh” driving down the road like a lot of others.

 

Stock ucas for the 2022 Offroad is what I’m still running. They could get the faster all the way to where they wanted it but it was close enough I was happy. I’ve also got the Toytech lift on it as well. It’s my first Mt so that’s all I have to go off of. I wouldn’t call it loud, there’s just a hum once you get going.
