Are you talking replacing the bulb in your stock tail so it us brighter for you or someone else to see or are you thinking about adding a back up light?

It does two things.

1 - LED lights out back
2 - Moves the turn signal from the brake light down to the reverse light
3 - (sorry I lied) (and this is the BIGGEST thing) changes the turn signal to amber instead of red

I got it mostly for #3. It comes with all the lights and whatnot.

Re Hyperflash: I get it if I am in reverse with the signal on (IE parallel parking, or if I signal when backing into a spot). Otherwise, no hyperflash. I now also have LED front signals, but it was happening before that too.

Re Massachusetts: There is a .005% chance the inspector even realizes it's not stock, and if and when that happens, it's probably legal. I'd have to look at the MA inspection criteria, but I would bet 5$ and a burger that it is still legal.

That might not be allowed in Massachusetts, i cant even install dark frosted tail lights not allowed.

I've had it for 3 years, driving through MA, RI, CT, basically the whole country. Nobody has thought twice about it. I wouldn't give it a second thought. Hell, I've been 3 years without a front plate which is required in RI...

Edit: Watch the video on the MESO website, it shows the differences. I would be doing this in a heartbeat, it was the first thing I did on my truck.

PS - the second gen tail lights performed like this. Second gens had LED brake lights, and I am pretty sure an amber turn signal out back. So, the turd gen rear lights are a step down.

Edit more: Here's someone who failed inspection for their headlights, but their tail lights passed w/ this installed. VA, but still.

I've had it through 4 state inspections with no problems. The Toyota dealer didn't even notice it but wanted to fail me for White LED Plate bulbs; we got into a verbal disagreement and they no longer get our business. The inspector at my local gas station was coincidentally being audited by the state when I went in for an inspection and they both told me I was good as long as the light was white and the plate visible at 60'. So many vehicles come with LED lights nowadays that the smaller shops don't bat an eye so long as they're properly operational.
