….wonder what I’m missing. I jumped on Pro pricing early on but I’m not seeing any emails.

    edit:
I’m an idiot and already deleted it. Oops.
Guess that’s why my PB account has been showing O+ next to my username.

Good to hear a + vote from you. I’ve got XTs on the way that I’m planning to pair up with the SH2 rotors that are also still on order.

You guys can buy outbound lighting on Instagram now at 20% off. So go for it.

BTW, the coupon is for using Instagram. Outbound has nothing to do with it.

Don't bet on it. Seems like all Nate does is blow up locals' trails on social media for personal gain, just like any other influencer.

I’m pretty conflicted with your comment. Don’t disagree that shooting a YouTube video of a trail will not increase its popularity. Some areas would kill to have Nate come in and showcase their trails. It’s free advertising and we mountain bikers like to spend money in those local communities. Do you know of some specific non-mapped or illegal trail that he filmed on? Interested to hear what @honda50r thinks?

As far as Nate goes, hes the least influencer as you can get. Doesnt sit around and hype up trails, just showcases a trail with minimal commentary.

I can't say I'm a subject matter expert regarding influencers' impact on trails. @evdog is there proof or are you just talking shit about influencers? Either way I support you

About 4 years ago in Boulder, CO there was an area called Left Hand Canyon. It used to be a OHV area that mountain bikers started digging out and making into a secret stash. The climbs were brutal, the descents gnarly AF at times. Definitely made me a better rider.
This place was a hidden gem for about 3-4 years. I say was because almost immediately after the NH video dropped it was a hot mess. People from all over the state, even from other states started coming.
Normally, whatevs. I get it, it's a rad place and it was always going to eventually get more popular. However, this particular case is different. This place was dug by hand by dedicated locals. It has no real parking, all roadside. The land managers could pretty much ignore the unsanctioned digging because there were no conflicts.
Within a year of that video dropping, the roadside was crammed with cars. Mostly people who don't give a shit about the local community or keeping things friendly. Garbage started packing up, cars illegally parked. Even hikers from other places started showing up due to word-of-mouth.
Perhaps most frustratingly, due to it's steepness, shitty ride-arounds started appearing, ruts, broken rocks, and new entrances due to the steep climbs everywhere. People who could barely ride hard blues showed up and really fucked it up. And NO ONE helped dig. Eventually local diggers gave up, and started digging new trails.
And, more people = more conflict. Now land managers had to decide what to do with this place. Where there were maybe a dozen cars there on the weekend, now there were almost 100. Warning about tickets, possible shut-downs, even traffic management started happening.
Point is, yes, the NH video started this calamity. And most locals squarely placed blame on it. But, is it his fault? Hard to say. For sure it accelerated the problems, but I can't say whether or not they would have happened anyway.
As for filming on built and sanctioned trails? Have at it. Fair game IMO. In our social landscape, someone's gonna do it anyway. I just wish people would take pause before blowing up areas like that one. But again, people are mostly out for themselves, sooooo....

    Video below.:

filming and using gps on unsanctioned trails ruined so much. but it wasn't really realized until like 2-3 years ago? i know back around 2018 i didnt have a second thought about leaving strava on no matter where i rode. now i have to be conscious because of situations like left hand (mainly local trails that have been shut down).

but im stoked for videos like this. its one thing to see a post from an advocacy group about a trail opening, its another to see fun riding on that same trail on the cooler features.

maybe riding glorietta will be the push i need to sign up for their enduro, if it happens next spring.

No problem IMO. I always cheated the pads out on Shimano brakes for a shorter pull. Theyhave lots of clearance with stock rotors.
Nice! I've had Gaia a long time and had the old legacy membership but this should give me thenewer features and layers they locked with legacy version.

I'd agree, he's the least "influencer" of them but still, he's an influencer. the stuff he posts still has an impact on the local trails. There are a few dudes around us who are local influencers and even young bucks who are showcasing/video-ing some secret trails. ruins the vibe for sure. I think there are people who are slowly realizing it and aren't running their GPS and videos for the secret stashes. and the secret stashes are getting more secret. I know I've kept certain ones out of certain hands for good reason.

Yeah I agree. @abacall post opened my eyes to something I didnt consider. I thought Nates vids were all on relatively popular trails. I could see maybe not showing off trails that are in a grey area.
