I just posted about this in another thread

I chased the ride at least once a month for quite a few years. Accomplished it a couple of times.
Now, not so important. Got caught one year when the weatherman said a dusting and I got caught with a 8” dump. Had to snow blow a path to my shed to park it.

I tried to ride every day. I have a friend here in PA who has documented his riding for years, keeping written records of each days rides. Started off as a challenge between him and one of his coworkers. Ground rules called out the ride had to be 10 miles or longer, on the street, no dirt bike stuff. I tried to take up the challenge twice. First attempt I made it 294 consecutive days before we got hit with enough snow that made getting in and out of my development too hazardous. Weather improved about a week later so I started over. That was in March of 2017 and for the next 680 consecutive days I managed to ride taking me into January of 2019 when snow once again stopped me. I managed not only a "perfect year" of 365 days but also a "perfect calendar year" for 2018. If you google "Blaine Paulus" you'll find a few write ups about my friend including an interview/article from Revzilla. His streak ended earlier this year when Covid landed him in the hospital for almost a week. His streak.......21 years, 11 months, and some odd days.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Oops, I could use one of them this morning. :crapstorm:

No bravery required. We have not had an incident at my polling location since the 2015 election When a candidate representative came in and refused to turn the candidate's T-shirt inside out. At the time an official representative of a candidate was not supposed to come into the polling place with an advertisement for the candidate. That silly rule is now changed.

Dennis: Thank you for running. I do not think I could bear the scrutiny required to run for office. :hattip:

    Welcome to the thread!

Good morning. For the most part voting is over. It was a long day yesterday, up at 4am off to the poll at 5:30, and home at 10pm. Long day. Today is a music lesson and my John Deere dealer is out to service my son's mower in the afternoon.

Veterans Day is coming up real soon and I am ready for the day!

Thanks. I've got several Iron Butt Association rides under my seat with plans for more but I have to tell you my attempt at riding every single day without fail has definitely been the toughest challenge I've ever tried. I live in south-central PA so winters can be tricky. There were more than a couple of times where the forecast called for snow so I'd set an alarm and go to bed just to get up at midnight, bundle up and go for a quick 10-15 mile ride then go home and back to sleep so I could get my days ride in before the snow started falling. I rode in the rain, I rode in the scorching heat of summer, I rode home one day in the snow when the forecast called it wrong and I had ridden to work. 2018 I mounted 3 pairs of tires and had my highest mileage single year to date with just shy of 25k miles.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Fixing a hole, part 2 today. About halfway there. Man, it was stupid humid, and more of the same today. Cold front Friday - been way above normal, going to way below normal. That's how the average temp (you never see) is made here.

Back in the day, I had a Honda XL350. I was never big on trails, but loved to jump. The feeling of being airborne for what seemed like eternity was fantastic. In all my time riding, I went down only twice, once when I clipped a chain link fence and once on the street when some dude opened his driver door. In those days, my commute to work was 35 miles, which I did every day 365, followed with a 15 mile commute for my next job, again consecutively for several years till the bike wore out. Never had a bigger bike, but had a smaller Honda for a while in the Navy.

My First motorcycle was a Honda 305. Twin-synched pistons vibrated the hell out of you! It took forever to get to 60 mph, and even longer to get back to zero! Square headlight and fenders (often mistaken for a Zundapp).

My Yamaha 360 single enduro two-stroke was pure fun. Dirt trails, highway back home.

    Gotta love the Hondas...
A friend and I decided to road trip over the Rockies to see a friend in Denver. He'd just bought a new Kawasaki and I was on my Honda. We hit some big rain east of Steamboat with a lot of lightening. I remember singing Ridin' the Storm Out at the top of my lungs as I was hydroplaning... We met our Harley riding friend at a bar because he told us we'd have a hard time finding his rented rural house. He'd brought another friend on a Harley. We sat in the bar drinking beer for a couple of hours while they made fun of our rice burners. The storm caught up with us and it was raining hard as we exited the bar. The Kawasaki roared to life. My Honda started right up... and both Harleys refused to fire. They were both dead.
But I gotta say... the Harley riders got to ride in a warm, dry cab after they called a friend with a pick-up to take them and their bikes to the farm house.
    LOL...
At least they didn't ask us to help load the dead bikes.

    Afternoon all:

Welcome CERN, interesting project that you had a hand in, but you still need to fill the cooler!

Chuck: That's quite a feat to be able to ride a motorcycle that many consecutive days here in PA, I could see it in states with no snow, but it amazes me that your friend could accomplish that streak here in the NE.

:( My buddy had a bear standing broadside at about 20yds this morning, archery bear closed Sat. :annoyed:

Home Depot came out to install the new back door. Odd door frame on our custom-built house, so we had to custom order the door and frame ($600) and installation ($500). I feel like a bum, but it would have taken me much longer and incurred SWMBO wrath so well worth it to have the job done. It's a huge improvement. 80F days, but 100% Humidity. I had the AC off while the door was being swapped out; way too humid in here. Happy wife, and more time to bike and hike, so that's a win.

Looks like 38F for Saturday morning, high of 56F up here. Overcast and windy. Time to set up the indoor bike trainer. It's in the garage, but I'll generate my own heat to stay warm.

Some of you folks are up when I am in dream land. I'd fill the cooler, but I'm diabetic and my doctor doesn't like me drinking. I may have a beer (Shiner) once a month. I had pancreatitis and was in a coma for 7 days. That was the best part of the whole experience. It was hell after I woke up. 16 days in ICU and about 8 months to get back to normal. Lots of surgery. Doctors gave me 30% chance of making a recovery. That was 15 years ago. Now I'm a type 1 diabetic 4 shots a day.

As a type 2 diabetic I found it really easy to stop drinking alcohol. It was also easy to stop eating ice cream. Pasta, potatoes, and rice is a lot harder to stop eating but it can be done. Glad to read you are doing a lot better.

I took the most direct route from Steamboat to Greely once, over the Never Summer Mountains. Pretty route, frozen tundra and cold as hell in August.

I believe the phrase is "dammit, Janet!"
I had one scrap piece to fill in the end. Cut it to width, painted it, and....

Oh well. I never even measured for length. I'll get something when I go get some stiffeners for the bulkheads.
