I hate dust from abrasive saws, but they're also damn near as loud too.

I opted against one because I didn't like the idea of fine dust lingering for others to breath. Sure I have a respirator, but that stuff sticks around. I don't want my wife and/or dogs breathing it in anytime they're in and out of the garage.

The cold cut saw lends itself to a cleaner cut, since there are no burrs to hit with a flap disc. I also find the cuts to be much more consistent so as long as I measure my pieces correctly, all my cuts yield the same length.

The downfall with it though is you get what I'd call "crumbs". They go everywhere even if you put yourself in one corner of your garage, and they're stupid sharp too. Cut some mild steel with short sleeves (not that I do that or recommend it) and you'll feel like you got hit with large metal splinters all over. But because the pieces are large, it's easier to spot and clean.

I rather sweep and vacuum that stuff up. Would hate for a piece to stab through one of our dogs paws. Every time I step into the garage, Biscuit is quick to follow -

Now if I had a shop/detached garage to myself, I'd say fuck it and go abrasive saw.

Then again I'd also rather have a bandsaw, and would opt for the largest one I could get.

Does your saw have a catch? Mine is pretty good at keeping those sharp little assholes corralled. I never get hit with them.

Nope; need to sweep and vacuum after I'm done.

You've seen it, was just cutting a bunch of steel the other day.

So you've got a means of cutting metal? Why use an angle grinder then?

Can cut small stuff, structural members and the like:

But I’m cutting sheetmetal panels for this:

    So, it’s Grindr or jigsaw.

When cutting angle, cut it standing up so like a capital A.

    And gotcha, that makes sense.

    No oxyfuel?

Yeah that angle is just… waiting for something.

No oxy, maybe when my garage and house are less of the same buildings

    I hear ya.

Acetylene is volatile so I'd want as little foot traffic as possible with the exception of those who work in said garage.

Just run a chain against the wall to keep it secure. But I get not wanting to run it.

@Tour991 did you see E. Kane got his wrist sliced open last night during the Oilers/Lightning game, fell down after a hit and Maroon skated right over his wrist

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m_dMEqKme4

not as crazy as when the goalie Malarchuk took a skate blade to the neck and nearly died on the ice back in '89, video of that is nuts

I did. I personally think he is a POS but would never wish that on any one. Glad he is going to be ok.
Did you see what Matthew Tkachuk did with the toe of his stick to Quick. Fucking with someones eyes is messed up.
