Shifter Stuck in Gear and Can’t Get Key Out

2016 SR Access Cab. I haven’t driven my truck in six months, and the gear shifter was extremely difficult to move as I brought it into neutral. When I tried to move it back into park, the neutral light went off and now I have no idea what gear it’s in after messing with it for like twenty minutes. Now I can’t get the key out of the ignition.

Is anyone able to make a suggestion so that I can get the key out of the ignition or possibly back into neutral or park? I think it is now in S(-). It won’t really force back into place, and I just pushing down on the interlock cable override button but it didn’t help. Thank you for your time.

 

Have someone push the truck from the rear while you get the shifter to move, then you will be able to remove the key. Make sure your emergency brake is off.

 

rock it back and forth a bit and try and move the shifter

 

Any chance the steering is locked? I've seen similar issues when the wheel gets locked and needs to be turned before it will let you do anything else.
