I have a 2011 Tacoma. Have had a slight vibration at speeds of 40 or so mph. Feels like an out of balance tire. Have put on new tires/ wheels, alignment, front cv joints, UCA, LBJ, OTRods, new driveline components. Any help, suggestions plz. TIA

Do you feel the vibration while coasting at 35-40 or do you feel the vibration when accelerating 40+?

If you feel it while coasting it's probably time to change out the needle bearing to the ECGS bushing and if you feel it when accelerating it's probably a u-joint going bad/dry.

Thx for replies. I replaced the driveshaft w new center bearings and u joints. It seems to happen when accelerating that I notice it, It’s not so obvious when coasting. I’m at a loss for the issue at this point.

I’m currently working on a vibration/wobble issue in the steering wheel. maybe this will help you. I found the upper steering shaft was badly worn on my truck at 53,000 miles.

This is what it looks like out of the truck.

Here is what it looks like under the dash installed. It is under the black plastic cover, directly under your steering wheel. The yellow circled area represents where the steering shaft mates to the steering coupler. There is a brass bushing there. Mine was severely worn and could be physically shaken side to side by hand.FA55DF38-5039-4091-9267-FD4E90617BFF.jpg

And finally a picture of where it passes through the firewall from underneath. I could grab that shaft, and shake it sided to side 1/2” or more.

I feel the vibration in the wheel, its difficult to determine where its coming from. Thx for the info!! Were you able to determine the damaged steering shaft w o removing it? I will absolutely be checking this on my Tacoma.

yes, i was able to determine the upper shaft was bad without removing it. You can either go from underneath the truck by following the intermediate shaft which is bolted directly to the steering rack, up to the steering shaft. There is a coupler between the two. Grab the steering shaft and try to shake it side to side.

Or…if you go inside the truck, under the dashboard directly under your steering wheel, there is a black plastic cover which is held on by 4 plastic nuts. Remove these nuts (I did this by hand) and slip the black cover out of the way. Now grab the steering shaft and shake it.
