I don’t want to change the suspension setup for all the reasons you guys are saying. I figure that I can get more capable tires and more clearance while not spending money on suspension — win win in my book. I’ll even keep my steel wheels, because I favor function over form.

You would be surprised to find the Front and Rear Springs are different, take a look on any Toyota parts diagram and you will find several part numbers between Trim Levels.

You jogged my memory of someone (maybe you) posting about there being more than one part number for leaf springs. Was there ever any confirmation that there was a significant difference?

Yeah that was me, nothing was going on that day so l sat around looking up part numbers, lol. As far as the actual differences, not sure but recall possibly seeing stiff and or soft ride as a characteristic.

It seems surprising to me that they could use softer or stiffer leaf springs without altering the GVWR and/or ride height. I suppose theoretically they could use a softer spring with a bigger arch. It doesn't add up to me. Maybe the parts catalog has an error?

EDIT: I visited parts.toyota.com and I found multiple leaf spring part numbers, but no evidence that there is a difference between trims. The site says they fit all the trims. I think it just saying that yes this will fit your truck, but it's not necessarily the part your truck came with. I might not understand the information given.

What's also weird is that when I put in my VIN, it assigns these trims that do not include the off-road trim even though I have an off-road.
So anyway it's not really clear to me whether the leaf springs vary across trims.

EDIT2: I also found "SPRING ASSEMBLY, REAR LEFT" and there is only 1 part number instead of 4.

The price is the same as the other part numbers.
