I have two young kids and my truck was hit because I had to move it to the street parking spot so my wife could have a once in a blue moon friend outing. I’m just over this already

Another thought would be to call the Nevada insurance regulatory commission farmers doesn't want to get a vist from them when the spend millions on advertising nationally. You can ask if what the adjuster is giving legitimate advice. They regulate and authorize insurance products sold in the state.

You should get your deductible back when Farmer's collects from DHL's insurance. You can always sue in small claims for diminished value, loss of use, ect. once it's repaired. You have filed a police report right? That'd be more evidence in your favor along with the video.

Good points. yeah, we filed a police report right after I found the truck and then we updated the police report stating we have video proof of the hit and run. Still no response from police.

I had a similar experience where someone hit my car last night, no note or anything. But he left his license plate number, so I figured that would be enough to confront him. I went to his home and he denied it. He told me he did not have the money and would not be able to pay it. I replied that he should not have driven away. I was pretty angry. I went back to my car and looked up the value of my car, and how much it would cost to fix it. I called him back and told him that since he would not be able to pay for my car, I would have to resort to another means . I called my auto insurance company, my insurance company covered the whole cost of the repair. It was very pleasant to have a little unexpected profit on the side.

You should never have to pay your deductible in the first place. The other person was at fault. It's their responsibility to pay. Your insurance should make sure they do. I had two similar things happen and my insurance was like a pit bull going after the other insurance to pay in full. I was in the adjusters office once when he called them after several days with no response and he told them he thought my neck and head were starting to hurt and would probably have plenty of time to rack up some health bills as well. Had a check the next day.

Of course that was back in the day when your insurance actually had an office in town and someone you know. Now, who knows. Just getting someone on the phone can be a problem.

I'd also be pressing the hit and run aspect with the police and wanting to know what they were doing about it with DHL.

As I understand it collision insurance covers the damage to you car if you are at fault and that is why there is a deductible so it helps you to be a more responsible driver,
Liability insurance covers property damages to the other parties involved and there is no deductible, however you pay premiums based on the level you chose, at today's prices at least in our state the minimum is so low it wouldn't cover the cost of one of the most decked out tocos Toyota offers. That is what they have under/no insurance coverage subject to limitations, there are other options I won't get into but DHL would have insurance and I would not turn it into my insurance for the collision insurance due to possible admission of fault at least till after the police have done their job. Sometimes it takes a bit. Case in point I had a brother-in-law murdered in California in 17' the indignant company I worked at did not want to pay the company stated funeral leave of 3 day when we went to the funeral 8 weeks after without proof of relationship and cause of death because they never heard of such a extended delay for the body for the service. It wasn't till I suggested the have a family member murdered in a large city and you are told up front that the release of the body wouldn't be for 8-10 weeks for evidence collection. Personally I find things that seem like it should be quick take longer to resolve now days. It's not like watching TV shows and movies. I was rear-ended a few months back and it took a month for everything to play our and the cops were involved with an accident report. It's been coverd it will play out.

Collision, comprehensive and liability are the insurance coverage options I can buy. Collision is for when I screw up and crash ,pay my deductible and have a strike against my insurance record. Comprehensive covers theft ,glass and hit and runs, pay deductible no effect on insurance. Liability covers bodily injury or personal property damage I can get sued for. This claim of yours is going to be under your comprehensive coverage, pay your deductible, file your police report with your evidence send your truck for repairs get your rental and carry on . Unfortunately life is not like TV and the cops could care less about a hit and run . In the end the driver did commit a crime and his insurance is probably void. As for diminished value, take pictures of your truck and keep them on file the damage is really nothing that would stop me from buying your truck at market value. Hopefully DHL steps up and sets this right worst case you lose your deductible. Your coverage might be different, I hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction soon.

lots of very wrong information here, from people who don’t know how insurance works.

collision is a no-fault coverage, it pays to fix your vehicle if in an accident, regardless of fault. comprehensive pays for different types of damages that are not collision.

as i stated earlier, it’s not uncommon to have to pay your deductible if the accident wasn’t your fault. this expedites the repair process and you can get your deductible reimbursed. why would you even worry about the adjuster’s time???? that was a really odd comment.

at this early stage his company is not doing anything to warrant a complaint to doi. calm down karens .

diminished value isn’t even a thing in all states and there are different laws depending on what state you’re in. it’s typically not even worth going after all said and done. what do you have to spend to fight for it? how much extra will you get?

hit and run situations are handled differently depending on the jurisdiction. the police know what they’re doing and what they want the rp to do going forward. i’m sure he knows.

involving an attorney for this type of accident is almost always a lose situation. nobody was in the vehicle, no bodily injury.

We didn't have much luck with cameras or clues so we set off on the repair path alone. As luck would have it parts for the new Rav4's are as hard to come by as the vehicle itself. So, for the mean time I did some crude surgery, heat gun manipulation and zip tied the front end together.

I hope you have better fortune resolving and repairing your truck.
