with the DT LT, i believe i needed to remove the whole row of header studs on the drivers side before it would go in. I didn't do anything with the steering shaft. But at least you don't have that SAIS tube blocking those!

Seconded. I installed mine from below the truck. Helps to have a second pair of hands too!

Installing from the bottom...cannot get it past the steering shaft. One tube runs right into it and cannot get it around it.

When we did mine, we loosened the starter and let it hang with the bolts still in. It made enough room to slide the header in

Guessing the tube designs are different with the URD preventing bottom install

URD still has to go in from the bottom. I broke the starter bolts loose and removed whatever studs needed to get it in easy. I think I pulled 3-4 in total. Can't remember.

Got it! I had to completely unbolt starter and move it around while putting header up. To get the header to snake around the end of the steering shaft. Thanks guys!

I pulled the starter. Then took half a day to find out how to put it back in. There’s a recipe for a path to get them in there, but that’s the reason everyone says once and done.

Since you're already removing some studs on the exhaust ports was it worth doing the ARP replacements? Nothing wrong with my stock ones so I'm just asking

I removed all of the oem ones and replaced with arp. The oem nuts for the studs were getting a good dose of rust, plus when I went to take the nuts off they didn't come loose and I ended up removing the nut and stud together. If you do go arp remember to use a thread cleaner "tap" before putting the new studs in.

Whenever I get to it I have a set of the ARP studs to replace my stock ones. My vote is yes. Are you going LT or ST as a CA truck.

very nice! Always good to hear. The only thing you had to do was the FPR reversal?

I live in mild climate so rust isn't a huge issue. It's there but I've removed my headers once already for a head gasket job.

I'd hate to spend the time removing some of them for fitment but the snapping some in half on removal! Plan is Short tube JBA to gm cats to AFE mandrel bent OE style pipe (also includes secondary non CA cats). After new o2 sensors, hoping everything runs a little cleaner since the URD is reliant on stock sensors.

ahh you can run the old JBA ones that are Carb compliant since no SAIS. I have a set of DT that are supposedly pending but that has not gone through. They blame SEMA for now helping them. JBA no longer makes the newer 2nd gen sets anymore. I called them and almost laughed at making them. they sold maybe 10 a year he said. Now if I could find a set of those that would be perfect.

Why GM cats? Will that pass?
