I use the 1x to accommodate my astigmatism it works for me. I tried a reflex I couldn’t see it clearly. Look at the Swampfox Trihawk 3x

I suffer from astigmatism as well and honestly haven’t had an issue with my dot, granted I haven’t ever used it at night but I also shoot with both eyes open. I’m looking for a 3x or 4x to replace my magnifier/red dot set up as the magnifier really distorts the dot for me. I get starburst really bad with it.

I’ll look into the swamp fox for sure thanks guys.

If military or first responder you can get a 30% discount from them also. Every little bit helps

I’m currently running a cheap utg dot and magnifier on my Ruger ar556, in the market for a much better optic that will work with what I’m setting this rifle up for.

Yes, Vortex Spitfire 1x and Primary Arms 4x. Both are great. Zero issues.

    Same crap everyone else got
I had a 2.5x on my 15/22. Loved it and every new shooter who used it said it was their favorite compared to the traditional red dot. I would have put it on my 10/22 but it sat too high and the was not way to remove the spacer on the odler PA 2.5x prisms.

You want a opinion based on experience, well, it’s unpopular here, but here it is:

If the optic cost less than the gun, it’s garbage. It’s a toy. I get it, good value, people owned something for 90 years and don’t have a problem, blah blah blah. Cool. It’s a toy optic.

While the accs reticle is good and the math is sounded on good averages, a x1 is kind of weird. Even if you’re advanced and can shoot with both eyes open, there’s a decent amount of tunneling…
Just get a rds and deal with the starring if you want to use it like that otherwise I would consider X3-4 power for BDCs.

Astigmatism doesn’t seem to have as bad of effect with holographics. Then again, there was a argument here not that long ago. Apparently people can’t let shit go regarding things that don’t matter anymore, specifically with Eotech. If it’s good enough to for vbs.socom.mil and the .gov….it’s good enough for larping on the flat range for a regular dude.

I don't entirely agree with this, simply because so many guns are overpriced. Example: Aimpoints, ACOGs, and Vortex Razors are excellent optics, but they're all considerably cheaper than a complete Daniel Defense rifle.

its a rule of thumb, but even so, over priced is your opinion. The caliber of people buying Daniel defense, LMT, BCM etc for the reliability are also not on TW wondering which $200 China optic to buy…

…you can agree or disagree… but it is what it is.

Overpriced was probably the wrong word, but my point is that that rule of thumb doesn't really ring true for lower-powered optics and higher-priced ARs.
