@Area51Runner they are bolted up with M6 stainless steel rivnuts and each rail has 5 M6x1 torx bolts. It’s plenty strong for how I am using it, but I will certainly follow up if I start seeing any deformation. The bed cleats are spec’d to hold 110 ft-lbf. The rail helps to distribute those concentrated loads into a uniform load along the bed. I took a swag at calculating the max moment, but without some kind of sheet metal table I’m unsure how to calculate the allowable bending stress since it isn’t a structural shape. Maybe somebody on here knows, but I came up with a max moment of 4,974 ft-lbf based on two bed cleats taken to failure at 110 ft-lbf each. My methodology at first pass was to treat the drilled surface in plan as a beam and find the moment then use that moment as a concentrated load in section to find the overall max moment on the double walled sheet metal.

Looks like you really planned it out and looked at the same concerns. Nice work! Will be interested how it holds up and the use you get out of it.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

What part of the bedrails are you thinking won't support the weight?

Not the bedrail itself from weight on top (i.e. bedrack for RTT, cap, etc.). I mean the flimsy inner portion of the rail and pulling at it from the side. Some of our 1st gen beds actually had holes along the inner 'lip' the length of the bed. Horrible example picture below - the carperting is my cap and below is the under the rail bedliner. Gives you an idea what I was referring to. That thing is way thin. With the 2nd gen rail itself or unistrut running the length of the bed, I guess it would act as a brace (?).

I think I'm following. Was gunna say, the top of the bed rail holds A LOT of weight, and takes some pretty hard abuse to boot.

I may or may not have some experience with that

Oh yeah, completely agree. I don't carry an RTT up there but the cap and the rack along with whats bolted to it definitely adds a bit lol. I actually have those Rago bed supports still sitting in the box. Never got around to installing them because I didn't want to take the time to raise the cap off the bed rails. :bored:

lol I do have the bed supported by the tailgate posts on the rear bumper. But I carry more than just RTT and rack. The side boxes are full of tools, parts, and fluids...

I've hit the front of the side boxes on trees so hard it stopped the truck... and then I also do stupid shit like this from time to time...

    https://youtube.com/shorts/tjcoTlnN9Xg?feature=share

(granted... now a lot of the weight of the side boxes has been distributed on to the bed platform now though)

It's one of those...someone needs to see your truck in person to really see all that you carry

You don't take it easy on your truck that's for sure!

I need to drive to Fresno to pick up the second tcase... I F'n hate driving to Fresno. But they're gunna be emailing me asking why I haven't picked it up yet if I don't get down there soon lol.

    The triple sticks shipped yesterday.

I'll take the front driveline out and the front section of my extra driveline to have them lengthend/shortened (respectively) next week.

I have a Land Cruiser 3rd member located for the rear axle. It's in North Highlands (Sac)... I F'n hate driving to Sac... LMFAO (see a trend here)

I'm trying to decide on the rear axle build... Do it myself from bare housing, or have Diamond build it. I want to do it myself, to save labor and the $350+ shipping... but I need to figure out what to do for flanges/spindles etc.

The front (LT) has to wait till beginning of next month when I get my bonus.

It just needs to be picked up. I don't think they care so much, but they do start sending passive aggressive emails after about a week.

I know this because I hate driving to Fresno and it may have happened before, on other parts.

I've got a window from 12 to 230 or anytime after 4 tomorrow if you need me to pick it up that way it can sit in the garage and you pick it up at your own time.

Aside from school, just got an OBGYN appointment for another ultrasound.

I pulled the exhaust manifold off to try and extract the bolts I broke earlier this summer.
    20221109_102503.jpg 20221109_102516.jpg
They were all turning when they broke, but I couldn't get any of them out. I think it was the cheapo parts store extractor set I got. I brought it to a machine shop and they took care of the EGR bolt. They said it came right out for them.

I've got the heat shield bolts drilled out as far as I can go, and they never budged for me. They're soaking in penetrant right now.
    20221110_132039.jpg
Next step is to tap them. Sucks because the tap set I ordered won't be here until Tuesday. :(

Not sure if you saw this but here is an alternative...
    https://www.yotashop.com/exhaust-ma...00-tacoma-exhaust-manifold-1994-2001-674-464/

They also have just the studs and nuts...
    https://www.yotashop.com/toyota-2-4l-2-7l-3-0l-3-4l-88-04-oem-exhaust-stud-nut-kit-kit-1005/

I just ordered a stud and a nut to replace the cheesy 4runner stud from Amazon. Good luck with your repair. PITA working with rusty exhaust pieces.
