Something I'd really like to put in the: "What Have You Done to your Tacoma Today?" thread is a picture of a factory under-hood insulation mat on my truck. It looks like the complete infrastructure is set up and in place under there just waiting for one, but I don't recall ever seeing one there real time on a truck: not even in a picture, boneyard, etc. Did any (1st, 2nd, 3rd) Tacoma's ever have one or available as an option? I've seen them on 4Runners, but never on a Tacoma.

As far as I am aware they do not exist in OEM fit for Tacomas.

Thank you for the reply. As I suspected. I watch a lot of Tacoma vids on YouTube to educate myself, and always make it a point to look for one actually in place.
With all the nice set-up in place under there to accommodate one, (likely a good part of it is safety related or stiffening) it would seem logical to see one, but never have.

I tried installing a non-OEM one time on another truck I owned to reduce some of the clatter outside and inside, and it didn't last very long under there.

I've never seen one on a Tacoma, I'm not a fan of them anyway, they typically either come loose and hang down and/or make good nesting material for rodents.

If your looking to get it quieter inside the cab adding sound deadening will help alot. Especially in the front near the wheels. and firewall. . I did most but the firewall since that is PIA and a ton to remove it all but I did the rest floor, roof, back as much as I could up front and its not bad. Even with the S/C on the truck it coats on the highway around 70db.
