Bought a used 18’ Tacoma OR about a month ago and over the weekend installed 3/4” Bora spacers. Today I noticed the poke looks uneven on the rear wheels. I’ve already done quite a bit of research and think I have eliminated the possibility of a crooked bed- I’ve taken best measurements I can and have had a couple of other folks look at it as well. A nearby alignment shop said there wasn’t anything they could do, and based on what I can tell, it looks like the springs and axle are seated properly. Any thoughts on the issue and if it’s worth trying to fix?

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
No unless it really bothers you. Bet the bed is not 100% aligned and you didn't notice it until the spacers went on. You can loosen all the bed bolts (carefully without snapping) and shift it to even things out.

How does the alignment here look? I cant tell from the angle...does it look the same or is bed pushed over?

I hope your right and it’s the bed, the alignment shop owner looked underneath and he doesn’t think the axle is square on the body. I don’t know if my eye is good enough to see that or not but I did measure from the outside of frame to the outside of the whee on each side it’s it’s about .25-.5” difference. Not sure if that’s normal or not though

Measure diagonal from cab to opposite end bed. Do the same the other way. That will tell you can is square. Just like measuring for a foundation.

    Collision alignment shop...

    Long shot here...
Did you cut the factory studs so as not to protrude passed the face of the spacer?
    Interference issue with wheels?
Are the factory studs protruding from the spacer more on one side?

I just tried measuring diagonally, will definitely need a second person and it’d probably make it easier with the cover off. From my measurements it looked like maybe a .25” off diagonally but don’t trust that measurement by myself in the dark.

As far as the factory stuff goes it clears no problem in the little pockets on the stock OR wheels, no trimming required!

Mines off about 1/4" side-to-side. It also has more cab-to-bed gap on driver's side. Meh...

Here's how the frame to body fit is done. Fast, but probably not all that precise.

@eurowner, completely stock other than the bora spacers. Hope to upgrade one day though!
Makes me feel better than this seems to be “normal” or at least a common non-issue. There does seem to just a bit more of a gap on the driver side, and if I had to guess the difference between the two wheels is 1/4” or so.
Anyone ever check the spacing from outside the frame to outside or inside of tire? Curious if it’s supposed to be slightly different between the two sides

Mine is off about an inch to the passenger side when I measure from the frame rail to the tire tread. I noticed this when I installed the trail wheels. I made an appointment last week since it is under warranty to see what the dealer says. Appointment is this upcoming Monday. We'll see what they say.

Get a thicker spacer for the less pokey side.

Before you try to shift the bed around. Take this to a good alignment shop and just have them ck the rear thrust angle, you will know in a heart beat if that axle has shifted. Is the steering wheel straight going down a straight road ? If not more then likely the rear axle is off. BUT someone could of aligned this to make it straight and did not address the axle problem... Remember the front wheels follow the rear. Good luck !!

@Coma4by definitely keep us posted with what the dealer comes up with!

@rnish, I am definitely open to the idea as long as I know it wouldn’t have any negative impact on the truck or how it drives.

@TACOTRDPRO1 the alignment shop I stopped by didn’t mention that, and he works on a lot of performance vehicles so I think he would have mentioned it if he thought it was a problem. Driving down the road my steering wheel is perfectly straight. Have you run into this issue on a Tacoma before?

It’s common in all pickup trucks not only tacomas . I just loosened the bed bolts and moved the bed to lessen the obvious . It’s a balance between uneven poke and rear bumper cap gap once you move the bed . btw when you’re in the mall parking lot, look at other trucks with aftermarket wheels . Youll see what I meant
IF YOU WANT TO FIX IT

I didn't check my bed alignment, but I measured from the frame as it should be square. The bed should not matter when measuring from the frame rail. My truck is virtually new and never wrecked unless toyota didn't disclose a wreck when i bought it with 12 miles. It's a 2020 with less than 1500 miles. It's either going to be a normal thing or maybe an error on where the axle mounts are welded to on the axle. My truck is a manual but that shouldn't matter as I believe there is no difference in axles between a manual and automatic TRD OR.
