I know the “help” is only for situation critical, but this warrants it.

Was driving up a grade at 45mph/4th gear when out of nowhere I felt something “slip” underfoot and the truck shut off completely. Fortunately was able to coast in reverse into a pullout and off the road but I’m now stranded 5 miles up a country road from my house trying to diagnose the problem. Truck won’t start, battery is good, starter is good. OBD II not pulling any codes.

Any ideas? I’m at a loss with such an instant failure out of nowhere. Thanks all.

    2000 Tacoma, V6 3.4, 4x4, 350k.

Full tank of gas and no visible issues under the hood or under the truck.

It does feel like that could be it. The battery ground is ok, the two on the drivers side connected to the plenum are ok also. Still looking around, not sure what others there are to check.

There should be one connected to the block as well. I say this because mine was lose after a valve cover gasket job and the ground was lose. Tightened it and did the trick

My truck would start and run.....for a few miles.....
and then pop the am2 30amp fuse.....

If I let cool down for an hour or so.....replace 30amp fuse
and then on my way......for a few miles.....
    then pop.....

funny thing about that AM30 fuse, I just broke the housing trying to pull it out with a finger and a key. So there’s that, although the copper inside appears to be fine.

Do you hear the fuel pump whine when you turn the key on.

Diablo, I was thinking the same. But with no spark, fuel doesn't seem to be the issue

Ignition system on these are stupid simple too...

am2 fuse to ignition switch to neutral switch to coils......

I believe am1 is what powers fuel pump and everthing else.....

You can check for fuel flow by popping off fuel press regulator return hose and cranking ......
gonna throw a lot of gas if good .......careful.....

Timing belt snapped I bet. Or check your 120amp ALT fuse in the engine bay.

Hard to say. It’s turning over, just not firing. That’s all I can hear.
