On a lighter unrelated note, if there was ever an auctioneer with a bada$$ race car, he should definitely name it-

That one came to me today, in a moment of clarity.

I don’t always argue and lose my temper with other engineers (that’s a lie, I argue at-least once daily with them) but when I do it’s over holding a 4 decimal positional tolerance on a bolt hole….. based on a reading an intern walked up and took off of another aircraft…. That is being used for donor parts…. After it was crashed…I’ve been doing helicopters for a long time and I have never ever seen two exactly the same. Sheetmetal guys are not known for repeatability on hand drilled parts.

We barely got anything here. Mostly a layer of ice underneath a dusting of snow.

We haven't gotten anything snow yet but just this evening we're cold enough now.
I'm doing a couple of pump/motor alignments tonight. The first up was initially so close that I took several readings with hopes it might magically come in. No go...need to remove .008" from the rear vertically and move the entire thing front and rear. 004" to the East. Amazing how on the money alignments can be these days, and fairly easy to achieve with laser equipment. It's 3,570 RPM so tighter tolerance.
I better get back to it.

Near perfect for the first alignment. Each side of the motor has 4 hold down bolts. I could have changed the machine to reflect 4 points but I chose to use graph paper for shim changes. Once and done, the way I like it, so 8 shim points and 745 ft pounds on the motor hold down bolts.
