Someone hit my truck last night!! :(

Police have confirmed both reports that we posted and video evidence has been sent to them so we will see. I contacted DHL and they confronted the person who was in the truck and they denied everything. That was before the video. DHL manager did confirm it was their truck over email so I have proof. Waiting to hear what he says today.

 

My insurance still wants me to pay my deductible to fix the truck now. I told them I want to first get an estimate of damages (getting this today) prior to proceeding. Also, waiting to see how DHL responds.

That's awesome you had the video! Not that it fixes your truck or makes anyone happy, but I would think lying on top of leaving the scene of an accident is not going to help his/her case.

 

For sure! The DHL manager was pissed because he gave them one shot to come clean prior to the video and they denied all claims. So just digging a deeper hole and probably loss of job and jail time. The police will be close behind

 

Had a very similar situation a few years back with my fiancée’s car. I just happened to walk into our apartment and glance out the window to see a school bus, with kids on it, hit her car and drive off. Called police to make a report. Between me witnessing it happen and the giant yellow streak down the side we had enough evidence. We were living in CT at the time, but for some reason the insurance company for the bus was in AZ which made things a PITA, as well as everyone at the company being a prick. They tried to give her a rental car for only a week, which didn’t fly. My fiancée is a nurse who works 13 hour shifts overnight and sleeps during the day, meaning she can’t find the time to look for a car anytime soon. But if you ever met her, you’d know how the rest of that phone call went. Ended up getting a rental for as long as she needed . In the end it worked out, but was a super annoying process.

Thanks man! Yeah my wife’s conversation with DHL probably sounded very different than mine lol I think he was scared to talk to me but didn’t realize he had just been through the blow up already

If it were me I'd pay the deductible and get the ball rolling. You're probably making payments, insurance, gas, ect on a vehicle you can't fully use. You've also got to wait for parts to come in before they can be painted or swapped on the truck. No reason why you shouldn't get the deductible back and something for diminished value as the other party was clearly at fault, but I understand the issues with insurance companies.

Go with your gut instinct though.

 

I think honestly that’s where I’m heading exactly. I think there’s enough proof to get both of the above so I might just get this thing fixed asap

 

Just got off the phone with DHL manager. The girl finally confessed to hitting my truck. Sounds like he fired her. Farmers will be calling DHL tomorrow to get their insurance information. Luckily they are complying. DHL dude said he went up to the delivery truck and saw the hole in his truck and laughed at the fact I literally have the exact puzzle piece shard from his truck. Fingers crossed I can find a shop that can fix the truck sooner than later. Thanks everyone for the help! Getting closer to resolution.
