You can buy the stuff online. Even home Depot sells it. Some people use a dedicated sprayer. Other people get the cans. Just depends on your driveway set up I suppose

    I bought this kit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1133838221...67uwqLqS5W&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Not saying it's the best or anything but it works great. I used the cans once but it would have gotten expensive. This way I can buy fluid film by the gallon, do all my vehicles yearly, and save lots of money.

Crazy how few of people actually know about or use stuff life Fluid Film.

It's almost that time is year again...

I mean, it's a GM product. Those are made to rust to pieces in a few years.

Dumb question incoming...Can you apply fluid film right over that rust in order to stop it rusting further? Or would a person have to clean that to bare metal before applying?

If you were to apply it, it would only stop it from the side you applied it from. The back side. Would continue to rust as more moisture was introduced.

It's 99.9% of the time. Never a good idea to seal rust in with anything. Whether it's bedliner or oil or whatever. Best practice is to clean it off and then paint and then fluid film

Last weekend I got my Tacoma fluid film under coated. He’s located in the Clive area. Let me know if you’re interested.

Is that the same guy I see posting on DSM 4x4 facebook page? I was going to do it myself, but am rethinking it now that it's getting late in the year.

Hey sorry Jon, haven't been on here in a long time.
But yes @Browner I'm in the DSM 4x4 page too. I have been doing this for about 10 years now. All started with my 4th gen 4runner during the tacoma frame recalls and my 4runner wasn't covered. Out of paranoia I went down the rabbit hole of rust preventative and found/tested Fluid Film. Kept that 4runner for almost 10 years and 200k miles in IA before selling it to a guy in TX. He was confused as to how my frame looked like that in the Midwest as he had been looking for several months and every 4th gen 4runner he looked at the frame was rotted out. Since then it has become something I do annually on all my vehicles. The main thing is not just the exposed metals underneath, but actually getting inside the frame rails/c channels and laying it down thick as to prevent any brine from getting in there and settling and just rusting from the inside out. Any quesitons just let me know.

    Thanks Nick.

I'll shoot you a FB message. I still have some Arkansas mud to wash off from a few weeks ago once the temps get above 32 again.
