Upgraded the front and rear suspension with the Old Man Emu kit. Dakar leaf springs, 883 springs (way over the top), and Icon Delta upper control arms.

Posting here because my family is tired of my truck pictures and you guys seem to be Toyota enthusiasts.

The 883s don't seem too tall. They're rated at almost stock weight, right? Like 600#?

I got the lift kit from toyteclifts and they say it’s rated for stock +200 lbs with heavy bumper and winch. Maybe when I get around to buying a winch it will settle more. They are super stiff right now. Feels good hitting speed bumps at 25 mph, but reversing off my roll off curb to my driveway there is absolutely no give yet.

Pretty sure the 883s are best when carrying more weight than what you have right now. Once you get your winch on there with some sliders and good skid plates, they will get better.

I love how you didn’t even question I would be getting sliders and good skid plates for the build. I think you are right on. Hoping the extra weight will help them. Time will tell.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    Lookin good

The family will get used to the pics eventually lol.

The 883s will settle, and if you continue going down the rabbit hole, you'll have the weight of the winch (like you mentioned) but also the weight of heavier skid plates, maybe rock sliders, 2nd battery... and on, and on, and on, and on...

    And on... and on...

Oh... did we mention this rabbit hole is a bottomless hole to throw money in?

Out with the old and in with the new.

Been hoarding parts for too long. So, today I installed Dakar leaf packs, Bilstien 5160s, OME bushings / grease-able shackles, extended brake line, duro bumps. Excited to refresh this 20 year young truck.

    Next up - front end.

Working on finishing up the swap today. Have 1 of the 2 transmission hard lines threaded and snugged up, the shorter line is being difficult. Can't seem to to get it threaded. Last thing I want to do is cross thread that thing.

Found a similar post (hard line to master cylinder) and going to try giving it a bit more wiggle room and see if that helps.

Also, something is up with my cluster... more to follow with that one. ;)

Nice! I wonder how the 5160's would compare to Nitrochargers and how much (if any) it would alter rear height...

Can anyone think of a 8k-10k winch that's smaller than this?
    https://ironman4x4america.com/monst...6T68--O5UJkczYu-Qdxf-00_brLAwVrcaAp6lEALw_wcB

I've been looking for a way to mount a hidden winch on my truck, and there just isn't much room on these early 1st gens. 5.9"x6.5" is the smallest I've seen, and this one seems like it was already designed for a remote solenoid setup, which I'd need. I think it'd be possible to make this one work, but it might be beyond my skills. At least this one's close, the other winches I've looked at are not.

EDIT: Are the Smittybilt 98510s really just 5.4" square (obviously not including the solenoid box or clutch lever)?

883s are 590lb rate and same free height as 881s. 882s are taller but same rate as 881s which I think if I remember right is 550.

    Stock is 500.

880-882s are all 500#, the 883s are indeed 590#. I can never seem to find reliable info on what the stock rate was, see some saying anywhere from 450 to 550

    Screenshot_20221106-082037.jpg

(from Headstrong ORs website, they omit the 882s for some reason)

I think it's 500. Just about every OE replacement is 500 I think.
